If you would class 84-86mph as medium pace....well that's your own opinion :| When he was playing for Zimbabwe he wasn't as quick as he is now, and not as experienced. So the first thing Zimbabwe want is somebody of Irelands class and pace, because i think most would agree with me wehn i say this: Ireland and Jarvis by far would be one of the quickest opening bowling combinations that Zimbabwe have produced since the Streak era. His presence is needed, and so is his talent if Zimbabwe are to find a partner for Jarvis. This man would fit that role perfectly. :D

I haven't heard how Aliseni has bowled in his 2 F-C matches but he has been clocked at 90mph+

Also Chitara, (who is also tall) age 18, bowled at 81.7 in the U19's match against Sri Lanka the other night. His first ball (which wasn't clocked) looked even quicker, so there is no reason why he should develop to being a 90mph+ bowler. There is only 3 balls that he bowled on the highlights though.

I think now it's important now that quality not quantity is targeted in returning players. Players who are not going to challenge for international honours are only going to retard the development of younger players, that is of course unless a 6th franchise is established.

Hondo's actually available and is playing for the Rhino's. Whether he'll get picked is a different matter.

Shit, is that true that's he's 84-86mph? Fair play if he is. Always thought he was another medium-pacer. Hmm - I need to take that back!

Was treated massively shabbily. From what I heard, he left because he wanted to discuss the T&C of the contract with Ovais Bhute, and he said if you don't sign within 5 minutes, you'll be sacked. That's totally harsh.

Anthony Ireland's departure for England left some bitter taste in Zimbabwe cricket circles. Now if you recall the lad left straight after the World Cup in West Indies and at that tine he was already sorted as a Kolpak player and nobody new about it. So while the team was building a future and planning around him he was building his own plans.
The person I know who was treated quite shabbily was Tinashe Panyangara who didn’t receive adequate medical care when he got his stress fracture.
Now on another front I'm quite frustrated by Gerald Aliseni’s progress, who has been quite thoroughly discussed in these forums.
If he really clocks 90km/h as we have heard, surely even by that alone he should have taken more than just a few wickets buy now in domestic cricket.
What I mean is compare that to Kyle Jarvis, who was expensive in South Africa but was still took five wickets in his first Mashonaland outing.
Now if we could get somebody who is really in the know about this young lad we would be very happy.

A very valid point that many of us miss out while discussing these situations. There have been players like these who have made use of a prestigious stage to catch the eye of the cricketing world for planning their future outside Zimbabwe.

Anyway, as reconciliation is the mantra these days, if both parties can bury the past, Zim Cricket will be the winner :)

Haha don't worry about it man  It's fine :D
Yeah good point morgieb, he was treated badly, and i think it just shows how bad things were from years 2004-2008. Things are on the mend as we all know, and i'll give it 1 year till Ireland returns in the red. I'm callin' it, 1 year :D

A very interesting point this one.. Ant is a good friend of mine for a start and obviously gonna stick up for him here... if you all did some more research, he played club cricket in bristol in 2006 and thats where Gloucester showed alot of interest in him. He like me and alot of Zimbabweans not cricketers but the general public where leaving the country for obvious reasons.. I know of his falling out with the board and Ozias, there where no bridges burnt as far as i know but being forced to sign contracts or get the boot.. not cool is it ??? I do know he hasnt accepted a extension at gloucester so hopefully he's on his way back home... who knows?????? :D

I thought he did did extend his contract with Gloucstershire. That was the whole reason why he couldn't come back and play first class cricket this season.....wasn't it ?? 8-)
