Looking back had Chari caught that and the umpire given Mushy out LBW we would have almost certainly killed the game in the first session.

Mushy would have reivew that inside edge.

Mominul did what all the good batters do: take full advantage of a lucky break and punish the bowling/fielding. Recall Tendulkar's hundred in South Africa in 2011. Was dropped twice before reaching 50, plus had a plumb lbw not given (no DRS in those days) and went on to hit a widely acclaimed 150+ score vs Steyn and company.

What is noteworthy is not a chance was given apart from those others. Hardly a play and miss even.

Not the inside edge. There was a delivery early on in Mushy's knock that was umpire's call for height. Very close. Still a great century by him. Not taking anything away from him.

I dont think there is a need to panic just yet. We also lost 5 wickets on the first day of the first test but crumbled the next morning. Thats the beauty of test cricket. 1 session can change everything. I predict there will be a monumental collapse at some point by 1 team which will decide the game. The new ball is doing a lot.

Shame the boys let a good start slip but the pitch seems great to bat on once the shine goes off it, can the rookie & Fizz get the same movement that Jarvis & Chatara did? Fizz is good but he’s not a conventional swing bowler.

Miss chances killed the boys the Chari one was tough but it costs Zimbabwe 152 runs !!!!

Regis also missed two more chances off the spinners, that’s 3 now for the series by my count? He does do some good stuff behind the stumps but still not safe enough.

Conant you can’t sit here and call people biased when you’re fabricating stats and defending Chari lol Ervine scores a test 100 little over a year ago which negates your claim he hasn’t scored a run in 2 years 😂

Also I’ve been a Chari fan in the past but this is his 7th Test and his average is 13 !!! You can argue that he doesn’t get to play often because we don’t play many tests, but that’s just how it is! If you’re going to be a test specialist for Zimbabwe you need to be able to perform with limited chances. I could understand if he was averaging 40 in Logan Cup but he’s not. Personally I wouldn’t have even had him on tour I think Prince would have been much better.

Need a big day tomorrow to restrict them to under 400 and bat really really well, time for BT to stand up and play with some grit and ticker, his return to Test cricket has been massively underwhelming with most of his innings ending with irresponsible shots.

I feel like we don't use our bowlers and make bowling changes correctly. I would have given Chatara more overs. Mavuta and Raza were going at ODI rate so probably not have given them as many overs as they got. We've got learn to read the game and make decisions in that moment.

Chatara bowled 18 overs in the day how many more could he have bowled considering his past with injuries??

The issue was none of the spinners could keep the runs down they were all really disappointing, but to be fair things could have been a lot different if Regis had taken those chances, both Raza and Mavuta might have had different days if they had gotten Mominul out.

It's going to take a massive effort to keep BD under 400, 500+ is really on the cards

Terrible start to the day Regis drops Mushy and Chatara gets injured.

Always a risk picking Larry for back to back Tests

Feel bad for Chatara, hopefully it is not as bad as it seems. Zimbabwe will miss him.

I was a pretty big fan of the 8-3 lineup going into this match, but it's a good thing Tiripano is in the XI now.

My bad. I missed the fact he got injured in the game. If he was not injured, I would have gone with maybe 20-25 overs from him. Maybe could have split a few more between Kyle and Donald.

I watched the game in small bits and mainly followed via Cricinfo. Was watching the SA vs Aus game live on tv.

Chari, Chakabva are two useless players, gets picked again and again despite failure
.T Tsiga could replace both as keeper who can open the batting at longer format.

120+ kph bowlers wont be effective in sub continent flat decks, when there is no swing and seam movements.

Zimbabwe is missing Blessing Muzarabani & Carl Mumba who are faster then Jarvis & Chatara, could have been more effrctive in this flat pitch through reverse swing.
