Absolutly bloody brilliant !! :D I said that if Ireland does indeed return to the fold, he and Jarvis would make a formidable new ball combination. With Andy Blignaut or Elton Chigumbura coming on as first change, Zimbabwe will be on top form. Having said that, wether or not Ireland will return is another thing. He's currently contracted to Glousteshire, a team that he's had great success with, and one which has brought him much improvement. Either way, it's nice to see that the lad is trusting Zimbabwe Cricket once more.

On a different note, i've not heard a peep from DetectiveRDS for some time now. He and Zimfan1 are usually the guys that produces the goss

It is my understanding thet Goodwin, Ireland & Ervine are all contracted with English counties for next summer but not beyond. I guess all are going consider at the end of the english summer the following:-

1) The state of Zimbabwe Cricket and Zimbabwe at that time.
2) The International diary for Zimbabwe for the next 12 months particularly the prospect of test cricket. (will a few odi's against Bangladesh & Kenya be that enticing?)
3) How their career is developing in England and any new contract offer on the table from a county team.

Personally I there is a good chance that they will return and next years international diary will be the most important issue.

But additionally Blignaut and Marillier are also great news. I see also on Kartiks website Tinashe Panyangara is returning to Zim. If all this is true Zimbabwe's player pool will be at it's strongest since the 2000 tour of England. Test cricket will then be a must otherwise the momentum will be lost.

I think it's awesome to have these guys back. Just the experience in the locker room will help young talent in Zim. I mean if you are playing with genuine county players who have been playing with and against the best in the world in probably one of the strongest leagues at the moment it can only help. They should be listened to when people are looking at feilding drills and fitness regimes, as well as in the nets. I mean they have seen it at top class level.

It's an excellent point you raised Zimfan1. But just out of curiousity, who would you have in his place ?? Possibly Christopher Mpofu, or maybe even young Chitara... :)
