Sri Lanka losing today by a massive margin. But they are still in the hunt for the last semifinal spot:
4) England 4-3, 8 pts
5) Bangladesh 3-3, 7 pts
6) Pakistan 3-3, 7 pts
7) Sri Lanka 2-3, 6 pts
4 teams still in contention so late in the group stage. You can't really ask for more from a WC format.

Re: [Series Thread] World Cup 2019
Something very few people have mentioned so far. But kudos to the ICC on the pitch curation. After the last world cup runfest, this world cup has returned with standard type ODI scores. People kept talking about how 500 was going to be scored, and we haven't even seen a 400 total (there were mutliple 400+ totals at the last world cup).
This world cup remains one where if you put up 280+, you have an excellent shot at defending it and winning. That is good cricket IMO. Balance between bat and ball.
We've seen several sub 250 scores as well. India vs SA, BD vs NZ, SA vs NZ, India vs AFG all saw totals of less than 250. Again good for cricket to see such scores.

I think we can agree that to be considered a world great you have to be averaging 50 or so for a decade or so not just a short time as many players have strong form periods.

Finally South Africa win one more with Amla and Du Plessis coming good and Pretorius, quite surprisingly playing only his 2nd game, was so good with the ball.
I can't understand why Proteas stuck with Markram and Phelukwayo for so long without giving Duminy and Pretorius a couple of games.

What the fuck are you smoking mate ? Wickets win matches , I’d take 4 or 5 wickets for 60 runs than none for 35 . Honestly you are delusional , you think everyone is out to get you . Everyone respects Bangladesh in this forum and you saying things like “ is it because we are ranked below Nepal bla bla “ is completely sad . This is a Zimbabwe cricket forum , I go for zimbabwe , I support zimbabwe . Guess what they aren’t even playing at the World Cup , I respect good cricketers no matter where they come from . Honestly stop trying to see through your one eye all the time , you look like a fool .Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 5:00 pmAt the moment probably. Starc and Cummins are better strike bowlers (check their strike rates). Even Mustafiz who isn't getting much grip from English wickets, has a better strike rate than Bumrah. But ODI bowling is more about economy rate than wickets and Bumrah has one of the best econ rates (and his strike rate is still very good). Its only if your average is 40+ that that becomes a factor.Andybligzz wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2019 3:13 amAlso Bumrah is better than Cummins and probaly a better bowler than Starc .
As long as your average is 35 or less, and your strike rate is decent, ODI and T20 bowlers should primarily be judged on their econ rates.

Yeah and you lost that argument in a landslide. All you've said is "Babar is better than Mushy" that is the defnition of an unsubstantiated claim.Andybligzz wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 6:59 amI’ve already had this argument with you once like I said I’m not doing it again .

5 for 60 is more valuable for 0 for 35. But we're not talking about that. we re talking about 0 for 35 versus 1 for 60. IMO, even 2 for 40 off 10 overs is more valuable than 4 for 75. Now if the 4 wickets are all partnership breakers, or came at the time when batsmen were about to accelerate, or if it leads to a win, its obviously better.
But to me 10 wickets in 10 games, with an econ rate of 4.5 is better than 15 wickets at an econ rate of 6.5.

Re: [Series Thread] World Cup 2019
Why the fuck did Gulbadin bring himself to bowl when the spinners were bowling so well? Afghanistan really should've won this match. I don't believe in conspiracy theories, but the decision to bring himself on when he had been taken for 8 runs in his previous over (Imad looked so comfortable against his gentle medium-pace but struggled against the spinners), seemed a little too fishy. I wonder if there was some match-fixing involved. The match was theirs to win when Pakistan needed to get 46 off 30 balls. The spinners had done a great job mounting pressure on Pakistan after Gulbadin's poor over.
The umpiring screwed them as well, but you could argue that they need to learn how to use their reviews and not waste them. Even against India, they would've won had they batted a little more sensibly. Their fielding is atrocious. The number of catches they drop and the amount of runs they concede on the field due to some lazy fielding is ridiculous. Their batting too needs a major overhaul for them to be able to compete against good sides regularly.
