Mountaineers win by 21 runs. Fairly easy after Vipers went all to pieces in the second half of their innings...

Looks like we are set for an Eagles Mountaineers finalmaehara wrote:Mountaineers win by 21 runs. Fairly easy after Vipers went all to pieces in the second half of their innings...
I question why we have no semi finals as that would of made every game count even more

I agree absolutely. We should have either had semi finals, or two round of matches (10 matches per team) before the finals. That would have at least tested the consistency of the teams to a larger extent.zimfan1 wrote:I question why we have no semi finals as that would of made every game count even more
Having said that, T20 is not much about consistency, but about who is good on the day, during those hours, so... (No, these are definately not comments from a disappointed / disgruntled Tuskers fan

True. The 1st/2nd & 3rd/4th playoffs they seem to have settled on make no sense to me. They have semis in the Faithwear, which has one less side in it - we're only talking about one additional match, so what's the problem..?zimfan1 wrote:I question why we have no semi finals as that would of made every game count even more

Or made every defeat less meaningful...zimfan1 wrote:Looks like we are set for an Eagles Mountaineers finalmaehara wrote:Mountaineers win by 21 runs. Fairly easy after Vipers went all to pieces in the second half of their innings...

On a side note, I think Bvute should be phoning up Lalit Modi every 20 minutes trying to persuade him that the winner fo this tournament should be included in this year's Champions League. Admittedly it is likely that they would be completely thrashed, but it would be an outstanding opportunity for the players involved, and a chance for the competing franchise to earn very significant revenue that could be put to use developing the game in their relevant province. If you look at the UEFA Champions League, the initial group round contains a lot of teams from smalller nations who have absolutely no prospect whatsoever of winning the competition, yet this does not detract from the tournament's attractiveness. In fact the presence of teams like Ruben Kazan, who upset Barcelona this year, and Famagusta, who beat Roma a couple of years ago, adds an interesting underdog element to the tournament. Finally, I would also suggest that the standard of this tournament is not far behind that of the West Indies or New Zealand or Sri Lanka's tournaments, none of which attract many (if any) overseas players.
In fact, get ZC to forward this post to Modi, haha.

I think (but dont quote me) that theres a chance that the winners will be in the Champions league
Re: [Series Thread] Stanbic Bank Zim Twenty20
I hope so. What worries me most about the "T20 revolution" is that all the rich, established cricketing nations will happily line their pockets, whilst the little guys get even more marginalised than they are already.Lou wrote:I think (but dont quote me) that theres a chance that the winners will be in the Champions league
