Bad day for us. Give Tshuma the new ball. He might do some damage. He is getting more confident as the game progresses. Nyauchi and Don are too similar for me. Ainsley struggling. Tomorrow will be tough
Yes only chance is that Tshuma goes through them with the new ball tomorrow
Sad that the hopes are hinged on a 26 year old playing his 7th 1st class match
I've heard a lot about Chisoro, but is he even as good as Raza or Williams as a spinner? From what I've seen of him in white ball cricket, he doesn't seem to get a whole lot of turn.
Personally, for me they should have gone with Mavuta over Ndlovu.

Im sorry but what have you seen from Ndlovu that could possibly make you come up with this ??
I can see why people aren't sold on Chisoro, I'm by no means saying he's a world class spinner, but he's definitely the best spinner in Zimbabwe atm, plus he can bat where Ndlovu can't.
Mavuta is a talent no doubt so yes I'd be ok with him being given more exposure, but for some reason he's on the nose big time it seems.
Mavuta has been leaking runs domestically for a while now, which could only mean severe lack of control over his leg spin. Also, it is only here that I'm reading so regularly that a leg spinner is a must for test cricket. Yes, leg spinners are a great addition, but it is not "necessary" for any test XI when you don't have a quality one. How many teams are using a regular leggie in their test teams? Almost none! All we need is a quality spinner, whatever the type. Someone like a Lyon or a Maharaj would be great. And we don't have any.
Chisoro is the best we have in terms of numbers we have seen domestically. Williams could still be better than him, but I don't think Raza has the control of either Williams / Chisoro. That 7-fer could mislead one. He's good, but he can also be average as we saw yesterday. So, picking Chisoro was a no-brainer. Or at least given how loaded the BD line-up is with lefties, I would have looked at Mufudza / Roy Kaia.
If they wanted a dart thrower like Ndlovu as the main spinner, they could have even gone for Wellington, who can hold a bat an frustrate the opposition for a couple of hours when needed, although his wicket taking has been at an all time low domestically.

Yes well put CA
I see Raza in a similar mould to Mooen ALi, he bowls exceptionally well when he's not the 'No.1 Spinner' but once he has that mantle the pressure is too much. I also feel Raza has evolved as a spinner from his early days as a part time spinner who was more of a defensive bowler, to a now all out attack spinner.
If you're going to be a successful spinner you need to be able to do both, Raza needs to find the 'old Raza' on pitches that aren't assisting him, Mavuta is in the same boat, he can't keep the runs quiet in any scenario, he needs to learn to do this.

Mavuta is 10 years younger than Chisoro. He’s a much better investment. At 32, Chisoro would maybe play 5 more Test. Of which he probably wouldn’t win any anyways. Always a better idea to go with youth.
Good to read on Cricinfo commentary that Prince is back on field. Thank heavens that this is not more serious. KK's debut has already been messed up so badly due to consecutive concussion layoffs.
