Tour over for Jarvis

Fast bowler Kyle Jarvis has been ruled out of the remainder of Zimbabwe's tour of the Caribbean after scans revealed a stress fracture of the lower back.

Jarvis played in Zimbabwe's warm-up match before the first two one-day internationals but struggled with pain in the lower back throughout the first week of the tour which comprises five ODIs.

According to team physiotherapist Amato Machikicho:
"Kyle went for an MRI scan in Guyana during the second match against the West Indies and the stress fracture was clear. There are still several diagnostics to be done so we can't be certain of the extent of the injury or the prognosis, but he will certainly be out of cricket for a minimum of three months and probably longer."
Jarvis, 21, was understandably disappointed but vowed to fight back:
"I'm not the first fast bowler to have this sort of injury and I won't be the last. I know it will take a lot of work to regain fitness but I'm determined to get back to playing international cricket as soon as possible."

Stress fracture at 21. Heath and Amata must take care of this lad now.

I agree. It's very bad news. 3 months is a while, and it looks as though he'll miss the T20 world cup :(
One posative thing to take out of this is his attitude. Atleast he's determind to get back in the team, and play for Zimbabwe once more :D

Questions may be asked of the decision to take him on tour when he was carrying an injury

We need to look after Kyle now, he's one of the few players left in Zimbabwe that can push 90 clicks. (Apparently Gerald Aleseni has bowled 93mph, though i've never seen it). He's certainly proven to us all that he is sharp. Now he needs to relax and concentrate on getting back in the nationl team

Kyle Jarvis is a rare commodity in Zimbabwean cricket so he needs to be looked after. Let's hope he returns before not too long.

Who'll replace Kyle Jarvis now. Perhaps another fast bowler ?? Or maybe another spinner who can be handy with the bat. Maybe Gavin Ewing ?? Or perhaps even Terrance Duffin. A long shot i know, but it looks to me like we need some solidity up front.
