CNZ have all the backbone of a fern. Appropriate, since that's their emblem.
Zim are already slated to play Ireland and Scotland on neutral territory later this year (Scotland in UAE, Ireland in South Africa, IIRC), so the new, improved ZC seems willing to agree to such arrangements. Frankly, I'd rather the series was played in South Africa this year than mess around with another postponement, as we need as much match practice as we can get.
Kiwis tour of Zimbabwe
Re: Kiwis tour of Zimbabwe
Politically New Zealand wants nothing to do with Zimbabwe or Mugabe. New Zealand sport was tarnished in the 1980s when we still played rugby against apartheid South Africa and I think NZ Cricket are trying to avoid a similar situation. I remember last time NZ toured Zimbabwe it was a hugely unpopular tour which became even less popular when Zimbabwe put in some feeble performances.

Why not cut all cricket ties with New Zealand. Frankly we won't be missing much as they have been nonexistant for about four years now. At least we have our pride rather than being pushed around and dictated to.maehara wrote:CNZ have all the backbone of a fern. Appropriate, since that's their emblem.

If drawn against them in the Twenty20 World Cup we must forfeit the bloody match!

Ah, but at least we're willing to honour our Future Tours Programme commitments. Moral high ground? We have it.Conant wrote:Why not cut all cricket ties with New Zealand.
