After the Windies series, our top order needs an overhaul and to start with, Matsikinyeri and Sibanda should be discuded. Those two have had their chances and they have proven they cant perform at the highest stage. They belong to the Zim A side. As replacements, I would suggest Doug Marriller , and Dion Ebrahim. I also dont think Masakadza is best opening the batting. I also would like to ask fellow members on the forum to explain why Chigumbura is always being batted at no.7 because during the Windies tour he was one batsman who looked comfortable but the pressures of trying to survive 50 overs and score runs at his natural tempo seemed too much for him given the rate at which the top order was failing

Lol, Crimson how convenient! Are you bailing out from any difficult decisions involving Sibanda, Mr Avenger?

I'd like to make a slight change to my team. I'd have Mrk Vermuelan at the top of the order with Hammie, and Taylor would drop down to 5. Craig Ervine would still be in my squad though. Out goes Dougie Marrilliar

Mark Vermeulen is a bit of an enigma. He tends to have one good innings in ten. When he is on song he looks like a world class player but unfortunately he is inconsistent. Maybe we could try him in the middle order and Brendan Taylor opening.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

No i think Taylor is a target upfront due to poor foot movement, as was shown in the recent ODI series. Mark Vermuelan's footwork is better, but not miles better. Like you rightly pointed out Eugene, Mark Vermuelan is a wild card, but on his day can be a world beater. I just think having him at the top of the order gives that feeling of agressivness, and with Taylor coming in perhaps after Williams or Taibu, he should thrive, especially when the shine has been knocked off

So basically what we have shown here in the Windies is that we do not have natural openers in the side and at home we cant depend on Vermulen his form has not proved his form in domestic formart . But if they was an A side then it wuld be useful to asses players from there b4 we commit another Lamb mistake ( we thought he was handy with the bat )

:D Not really, I still believe Vusi was a little unlucky in the series, he did everything to get into some kind of form and those two run outs happened. He would certainly be in the scheme of things.

If he is available, he would come into the 15, and Lamb gets into playing XI if the track is spinner friendly, and Prosper misses out :(. Not taking any chances with the batsmen, you never know when you need a Sibanda or a Taylor...
