Logan Cup 2020 - 21 : Discussion
Re: Logan Cup 2020 - 21 : Discussion
My healthcare is of a high standard - I pay very little as it is provided by my employer. The confederacy is dead bar a few fringe elements of society. My children have free school lunches. The water where I live is great. Trump was mostly full of hot air, if he were really a fascist leader there wouldn't have even been an election. He isn't much of a dictator if he can be defeated via an election.

Must be another country I’m thinking of that’s riddled with corona virus, civil unrest & gun crime

A lot of the things in there are "my" and "i". That doesn't mean the problems don't exist. Easy to pretend. All of those things are basics that the taxes should fund. It's mind numbing to me that Americans argue that healthcare should not be free and have bought in to the idea of paying for their health. My job does not determine if I get the right health care or not. I had a surgery in August, and had to go in a week later too because of an issue. 1 night in hospital on each occasion. All up I paid $35, which was for the medicine.eugene wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 3:33 amMy healthcare is of a high standard - I pay very little as it is provided by my employer. A lot of hot air for a man who 70 million people voted for is very very dangerous. Agree with @jaybro though, we must be thinking of a different place then....

Big problem for me with US health system is that it isn't even good capitalism. The free market should make it cheaper but the robber barons in the insurance industry make it more expensive than the government has to pay for the socialised health system here. Protecting the gougers is not good capitalism.

Don't be so sure about that. I drink mostly bottled water since it tastes so much better than the tap.

Bottled water is a potential trap in this neck of the woods.
Its exceedingly difficult to prove where it has come from and what process it has been through.
It was discovered a while back that our Glendale Spring water that was a popular brand was adjacent to the sewerage farm
Its supposed to go through a reverse osmosis plant, but one never really knows...
Fresh clean water is the next major crisis looming in Southern Africa. Every time there's a drought its a disaster. Rainfall patterns are diminishing and populations are exploding. Harare have another dam site to the east of the city and that dam should have been built years ago.
Most households don't have their own water, most boreholes are dry and water deliveries are the order of the day. Its about $40 for 5000 liters that lasts anywhere between 3-6 days depending on the size of tour household.
The poorer households trek miles and collect water in 20 liter containers. Often pipes get deliberately broken so they can get free water.
Pumping water for sale is now banned within Harare but it doesn't stop people doing it.

On the bright side PJ played for Old Hararians today so looks like he is continuing to give it a go. Myers took a couple of wickets and scored some runs.

The USA isn't without its problems, but then neither is anywhere else. I can name towns in Australia that are riddled with crime, racism, and poverty just as easily as I can find such things in the USA. And guess what, you are paying for your healthcare, where do you think the government gets its money from?

I really need to get on the bandwagon of buying up fresh water supplies around the globe, it really will become a lucrative business.Googly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:49 amBottled water is a potential trap in this neck of the woods.

Go on then, what towns/ cities are you talking about?
Of course we're paying for healthcare, everyone knows that. the difference is everyone in Australia has access medicare and public hospital care. You see people here turned away because they can't afford a hospital bed.
