It's been bugging me for some time as to who would succeed in opening the batting. We've tried countless combinations in the past few months. In the 2 South Africa ODI's we had Mark Vermuelan and Chamu Chibahba in the 1st and Brendan Taylor and Hamilton Mazakadza in the second. In my opinion the candidates for opening the batting are as followed:
1. Terrance Duffin (With him at the crease Zimbabwe are garenteed stability)
2. Dion Ebraham (Again stable up front, though like Greg Lamb has his limitations)
3. Mark Vermuelan (A lot has been said about this man in the past, but i still reckon that he's one of the best openers
that we have. He can consoladte and attack when ever he wishes. But the word "form" is a
huge factor with Mark.)
4. Chamu Chibahba (Again has the technique and the temprement but hasn't got the form. However he has shown in
the past that he can play the fast men quite comfortably)
5. Gavin Ewing (Perhaps could be used as a stroke maker up front in the T20s'. He's certainly shown that he can
hot the ball hard)
