Well where else should he bat? He can't bat when theres a few overs left because he'll waste precious overs and he can't bat at the start of the innings because he'll waste the overs AND he can't be in the middle because he'll stagnate our inningsbayhaus wrote:He should come in when we are struggling a bit and we need someone to stick around for a while whilst rotating the strike. That should be his job.

Ya i agree, but when Lamb played for Hampshire he batted at number 8, and often was required to look for some runs. We haven't seen it yet, but i reckon if the opportunity came along he could find the boundary's. But for the time being i think his ideal spot is number 4. Craig Ervine is arguably our most technically correct batsmen, and i just think we need to use him as best as we can. Therefore he should bat and number 3.
However when i watched Brendan Taylor in the 1st ODI, it was evident to me that he's been working on his footwork. If you look at the highlights, his front foot was meeting the ball. In the past he's often been caught at lip or my the keeper through driving away from his body, but in the India match his feet were moving towards the ball, enabling him to hit more cleanly. His power has always been present, so there's no point in discussing that

Yeahhhh i see where you're coming from, but that's not true. You could have all the nets in the world, but when you come up against a good quick bowler like Dilhara Fernando, you need game time. Match practice is imperative at international level, and i for one think Lamb should have an extended run in this side.

I am desperate to see one positive inn from his side. right now he reminds me of Strang/Friend at no.3 minus the pinch hitting.sloandog wrote:Yeahhhh i see where you're coming from, but that's not true. They said at the begining of the series that they were going to give him a run at three so let judge him at the end of the series.Dr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:I am desperate to see one positive inn from his side. right now he reminds me of Strang/Friend at no.3 minus the pinch hitting.sloandog wrote:Yeahhhh i see where you're coming from, but that's not true. I would like to point out that he was third top scorer today!!!!

Re: One small tweak needed in the starting XI
And just for the record guys, I have a bad feeling in terms of Sean Ervine making a comeback. He's scoring runs consistantly for Hampshire this season. He's scored two double hundreds, six 50's and taken two 5 wicket hauls. Shame
