Can't his brother say something to him   !!! :W: :W:
That's rather selfish, to come in after two years and walk in the Test team when everybody else has sweated to get us where we are. Having said that, I more than anybody would love to see him in the team, regardless. Just wishing he would make the plunge now...

for me its not so mucvh about Sean ervine the player himself (apart from being a sexy looking prick and our best bat) to me its concern of what will happen when we DO unearth a genuine white superstar.

they will just go to england. We will never have an andy flower again, unless an existing average player has a late career surge. but i doubt it.

we need to rely on players like taylor, hamilton and williams.

very talented batters who could handle the test arena but never break past an average of 40 with the bat.

thats why i never understood why everyone on this forum ganged up on me and maehera when we strongly opposed all the Saffers playing in england and for england in that particular thread. People here not looking at the precedence that has been set.

In my opinion we have several Andy Flowers in the making. I reckon Sean Williams and Brendan Taylor, possibly Craig Ervine, will be the next white superstars of Zimbabwean Cricket in years to come. Brendan Taylor has only just really began to peak, and has only really recently began to move his feet. Sean Williams and Craig Ervine are two similar players. They've both got superb techniques and i reckon could be superb additions to our side when we return to test match cricket. And why can't these guys average over 40 ?? I think they will. Give them a little bit more time to mature as cricketers and they'll prove you wrong...

Jeez less of this white stuff. The clear difference with this zimbabwe team and the one 3 years ago is not the players but the mental outlook. They are actually playing positive attacking cricket with basically the same team that lost a few games to Kenya a few years ago.

Who cares about the old players, with the correct coaching staff (yes the old players do make a difference in the COACHING department) the desire and attention to detail in areas players had to work on has clearly worked. Having a total fool in position of coach in Curran and chawguta (spelt wrong) how is the team supposed to improve when the players themsleves as they were in 2007 were probably of a better standard than those 2 coaches were at their peak...

Im ranting, but some stuff that is chatted on here is absurd!!!!!

Im back after forgetting about this forum for a long time!

ZIMDOGGY pointed out that he reckons we won't have another white superstar like Andy Flower. I was mearly pointing out that there are several "White" superstars in the making. So don't just assume that I'm being racist because I'm not !

Good to see you back zimdan. Are you still living in Zimbabwe?

I would be surprised if we have 'many' Andy Flower's in the making. I think we may have more Grant Flower's in the making - good player, but not a superstar. Andy Flower is a once in a generation player. I hope I am proven wrong and that we do have many players of Andy Flower's quality however!

Zim just needs to concentrate with the guys available rather than chase people who might or might not rejoin. We got a good team in the making and if we produced any superstars before, we will produce some in the future. The real challenge if for the current team to get a lot of games and improve, they are quite talented, it will only be a matter of time before guys such as Ireland + S Ervine start to chase Zim trying to come back. At this point after this series i cannot see any schedules ODIs before the world cup, we just need games right now we will get there, the coaching staff is in place and the talent is there.

We are playing against South Africa in September which was mentioned by there chief selector Andrew Hudson earlier this week (See link below) but im not sure if its home or away (think its in South Africa)

http://www.cricinfo.com/southafrica/con ... 61810.html

Then in December 2010 we are scheduled to visit Bangladesh AGAIN

But i think we are playing some ODI's against Ireland and Scotland when they visit Africa for their intercontinental cup matches and i reckon they will try to squeeze in another series maybe against Kenya or even Afganistan

I don't think Andy Flower was a once in a generation player at all. There's no reason why youngsters such as Williams and Craig Ervine can't mature into solid opening batters in Test Match Cricket. Andy Flower batted from 1-8 (Don't quote me on that) and succeeded at the highest level........why can't our current crop mature and do that ?? Just because they may not have the mental strength of AF yet, they have good solid techniques and i reckon, with the help of our new batting consultant Grant Flower, these boys could be just as good as Andy Flower in 2,3 maybe 4 years time.
