Perhaps someone could interview him and we could get to the bottom of this issue.

Fixed that for you. :)

Can't see that it's even relevant, myself.

a) our team isnt strong enough to afford to start picking people on other reasons besides merit.
b) quotas disenchants players and hey go to england or aus. Pietersens move was a direct result of his own disgust at this.
c) im white, but if the situation were reversed and the top 11 players were negros the 3 or 4 token whites in the team were affecting performance of the teami would feel embarrased and inadequate. I would probably feel the same if i were black.
d) the above is irrelevant anyway as Elton,Taibu,Rainsford,Hamilton, prosper and cremer are all regulars in the side anyway.
e) IF quotas MUST be introduced, just do it at domestic level? dont let the national team suffer.
f) As eugne said...bottom up, not top down. Given the population s what it is grassroots cricket will naturally have more negros coming through anyway. I personally believe after the current crop we wont see a white fast bowler again.
In this day and age Zimdoggy, it is unacceptable to use the word negro. Or are you actually older than the "real mackay's" age suggests?
Negro is not a racial epithet and is simply spanish for 'black'.

It is considered the official term for black people collectively in statistics in places like brazil, argentina, alot of europe etc etc.

I've even heard that referring to someone as 'a black' is inappropriate too so its hard to win.

Theres no malice there so i wouldnt worry too much about it.

much respect.

much prefer if you let the americans use the term for themselves and for those that still identify with it due to them being labelled as such and not on this forum as there are names for other races as well(besides blacks) which are used elsewhere but not applicable to our socio spectrum as Zimbabweans...So for the sake of progress and social cohesion, let us be just and mindful of what or we say/write

Hopefully ZC will use selection of the team on merit and nothing else. As long as someone is a Zimbabwean and is willing to represent the country and are the best we have they should make the team.

one other thing.

one more final thought on why i dont like a quota,

peopl, either collectively or individually, dont get better as people when stuff is handed to them on a plate...

you need to work for it, you need extra barriers to overcome.

the best kickboxers are the ones with dead nerves in their legs because they have had he feeling kicked out of them by getting caned.

when they hit the ring they are stronger.

if a group feels like they are under represented, its only through working extra hard can it be balanced out.

Theres nothing stopping any black player from reaching the top in Zim cricket (from a cricketing perspective).

Because anthropology and geneology is my area, so i get curious when i see someone whom i cant trace their roots.

but hey, its all just curiosity, some people may be curious where he was born, others what car he drives, im curious as to his background. i dont think its wrong.
