What's with this english exodus to Zimbabwe? Perhaps we need to have an overseas player quota? Who would have ever guessed we might need a quota - a few years we couldn't get Zimbabweans to play domestically let alone anyone else.

im surprised zim officials arent hitting up West indian cricketerss a little more.

correct me if im wrong but i think the average zimbabwean would feel better watching some decent west indians play for their team.

My reasoning being

-english and zim dont get along well (colonial times)
-zim have an affinity with the carribbean (bob marley is very popular in Zim and he even wrote a song about zimbabwe.
-black players (marketing to the masses the same way taibu and elton are used internally -familiarization marketing)
-Windian domestic season finishes before Logan cup starts
-Windian players my guess arent in that high demand and would come cheaply -exceptions being Gayle and a few of their T20 specialists.

A player like Darren Sammy or kemar roach in each team could do alot of good for the game i think and lift the standard without blitzing it. I think its more logical to have in an african nation than no name fringe county cricketers in a country with very strained relations to Zim.

I think the Windies route will be good as it means the guys are getting exposure to international standard of cricket at First Class . Such that when they make it into ZIm A they will be a notch up . Then obviously the finished product will be the Red Shirt.

But starts again before the Logan Cup ends, the two would clash quite heavily. As the only northern hemisphere nation, UK players are almost the only realistic options for the franchises to be honest.

Zim don't have an affinity with the WI, and in regards to Zim and Eng not getting along thats just a Mugabe thing, I think generally Zimbabweans have moved on from the whole colonialism mantra.

But it would be nice to have peeps like roach and Sammy playing here in Zimbabwe.

Too many. It hurt english cricket for years when they had up to 4 in the seventies. We need to allow 2 maximum and they need to be good as well to help bring the stnadards up.
