This win moves us past Ireland into 10th, although Ireland will take 10th back if they win the 3rd match.Flower power wrote:Does anyone have an idea were Zim will be if we win all the three ODI's on offer ?

Therefore the third match is still not a dead rubber as I thought .
Go out there boys and win it for us .

A lot of improvement needed ahead of the South Africa series. Where is the confident top order batting of the tri-series?

ODI table after this match:
If Ireland win the 3rd ODI, they'll be on 39 with Zim on 38.
If Zimbabwe win, Zim will be on 42, Ireland on 30.
Code: Select all
Pl Pts Rt Ch
9 Bangladesh 24 1277 53
(+1) 10 Zimbabwe 26 1043 40 (+4)
(-1) 11 Ireland 10 335 34 (-11)
12 Netherlands 6 103 17
If Zimbabwe win, Zim will be on 42, Ireland on 30.

Well we have won the series but we should have defeated Ireland more comfortably, bcoz still they are a associate nation, and facing south africa would be extremly tough playing like this.

Another nail biting win, but thanks to Utseya, Cremer, Taylor, Taibu and Chiggs. Williams did his job on comeback, but to get run out was criminal. Hope for a more solid performance in the last one, and we definately need HM in top form before we go to SA.

We definately have the nucleus of a side that can be pushing to get to 5th or 6th in the rankings in a few years. We have three quality established batters in Hammie, Tatenda and BRM. We also have two really fine prospects in Ervine C and Williams S. I think with Chitara and Jarvis two decent quickies, our spin dept is great and Chigs rocks. But I am worried about Chappie. Too inconsistent. He has to go. Greg Lamb. Bring him back when fit.
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.

I think the main concern at the moment has to be the role of Chigumbura. His bowling has really declined. If he becomes only a part time bowler the whole balance of the side is changed - and not for the better. We really need him as a genuine all-rounder.

It's all a bit strange, his figures for Northants were reasonable
First Class - 114-17-482-20, 20 wickets at 24.10 with a best of 5-92
40 over - 11.2-0-66-3, 3 wickets at 22.00, strike rate 22.6 but economy rate 5.82
20/20 - 29-0-210-10, 10 wickets at 21.00, strike rate 17.4, economy rate 7.24
Not world beating returns but perfectly reasonable for someone making his debut in county cricket
Maybe he's just struggling with injury still, hopefully he'll get back to his old self for the SA series
