Fair play to Gumbie, that’s an excellent knock where everyone else has failed.

Also kudos to Akram as well at the other end. Also in good form with bat and ball.

I can accept peoples reservations about Gumbie from previous years but he really seems to be in a purple patch at the moment'.

Last few first class games for mounteneers he has really kicked on. No doubt Ben Compton has really helped his game as his opening partner and knowledge he shares.

Still only 27 and he has been on first class circuit since 2013. He clearly wants in to the test side. This will do no harm at all

140 and out

Take a bow Joylord Gumbie. You have saved ZC some blushes and done your chances of a cap no harm

I guess my reservation comes from the fact that Gumbie as been around a while and I can't remember ever being impressed with him - not even once - before this season. The difference with Innocent Kaia is that he always did decent in earlier seasons without being spectacular. He showed bits of talent here and there, whilst Gumbie never has? So maybe these past two months is just a good run of form, and he'll struggle again long term?

Hopefully I'm wrong and Gumbie turns into more of a Kaia than a Kaitano.....

He did very well today though, impressive.

And Faraz also. 210 runs between them and 60 runs between the rest. That really did save some blushes.

Chesa also took 3 wickets. He will be a very good player one day but at the moment Burl and Mavuta are firmly locked in.

Geez, pretty embarrassing for the Southerns side, absolutely hammered with bay & ball, luckily they took some wickets at the end. I might have to change my signature, Mumba is a spent force in a big way!!!

Great to see Gumbie & Akram out some respectability to the ZC name, Gumbie most certainly locked in now for a Test debut when we play Afghanistan later this year. ZC selectors seem to only judge players on current form, so Gumbie is very much in form so he’ll get a chance.

I also agree this was a good chance to play some of the stronger guys against quality opposition, a chance missed for sure. I also think people need to forget about Curran, I think it’s clear he hasn’t committed himself to ZC.

This is embarassing. Surely national team players should have been involved . We don't have the depth of playing 22 players at the same time without the national players. Surely Williams, muzarbani need game time . Ervine and Ballance should also be part of odis considering the worldcup and qualifiers

I got a feeling the senior players will pitch up for the ODIs.

Career defining knock for Gumbie. Was he not part of the rising stars? Could be a real mental boost knowing you cam do it against some quality opposition.
