Glamorgan and Durham to tour Zimbabwe
Re: Glamorgan and Durham to tour Zimbabwe
The difference between durham and Glamorgan is night and day.
The northerns side should have beaten Glam twice,Both in the 3 day match and todays match.

Durham have got a gem of a bloke for a coach though in Ryan Campbell. I watched him score over 300 not out, in a 45-over match in Hong Kong when I was working there about 10 years back. If I'm remembering right, he put his card behind the bar and bought drinks for the whole place afterwards.

Brad Evans was always better than Jongwe in all departments. Jongwe is one of the most overrated players in ZCF history - and thats saying something.

You commending his cricket prowess or his generosity?
He'd do that only once in Zim and go broke.
Ya Glamorgan are not looking too peachy, but they're a decent side. They'll be worried. Byrom and Carlson are two important batters for them and they have not done a lot this whole season. Eddie wasn't part of their T20 squad last season so perhaps they're missing a couple of players?
I wonder where Colin Ingram is? I guess still on R&R and will join them in the UK?
Sam Northeast is an absolute gun batsman. He will fire soon.

Absolutely not true.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:14 pmBrad Evans was always better than Jongwe in all departments. Jongwe is one of the most overrated players in ZCF history - and thats saying something.
You've really got it in for him, it's quite irrational.
Re: Glamorgan and Durham to tour Zimbabwe
Ya Jongwe is a talented guy. Brad looks likely to get a nose in front at current rates of progression and regression, but he will have to become a lot more reliable to regularly replace Luke. And I do think Luke has gone backwards a bit.
It's competition and what we need. I'd like to see Melton pitch up. That would really shake things up.
Unfortunately we need to receive a great deal more clubbings before the balance of the side becomes less of an issue.

Not at all. I'm not expecting him to be Ben Stokes...but at some stage, he's got to have at least a Hardik Pandya or Angelo Mathews like performance, shouldn't he? Right now the ONLY thing he can do is bowl a few slower balls at the death. Thats it, thats the only skill he has. Even then he has yet to demostrate it against ENG/AUS/IND. Fair play Zimbabwe never play those teams, but then thats more reason to showcase more skills against lesser opposition.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:28 pm

I think Evans has far more potential and is younger than Jongwe as well.

Yeah Evans may have more potential but it’s completely wrong to say Jongwe is shit, totally unskilled, or the most over-rated player!!!
Re: Glamorgan and Durham to tour Zimbabwe
I agree , Jongwe is very much overatedsecretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:28 pmAbsolutely not true.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:14 pmBrad Evans was always better than Jongwe in all departments. Jongwe is one of the most overrated players in ZCF history - and thats saying something.

Jongwe's stats are extremely mediocre (polite way of saying "shit") when taken in the context of the quality of opposition he's facing. His batting averages are under 14 in both formats! These would be poor numbers if he played exclusively against teams like India-England-Australia. At this point he's a couple of notches below Chigumbura, who was himself pretty over-rated.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 4:59 pmYeah Evans may have more potential but it’s completely wrong to say Jongwe is shit, totally unskilled, or the most over-rated player!!!
Now you might argue that it isn't fair to compare ZIM players with the best. That is a flawed approach because Zimbabwe are playing international cricket with the best. If they are expected to qualify for ICC events and/or beat top 10 teams, their evaluation MUST include performances against those teams.
