The total was decent, 268 for most countries is fair. But considering the wicket and our bowling, I think we should have been looking at 300+. Our middle order woes continue with only 1 person carrying the bat (although much better runs distribution)

What we should realise now is that we need to be posting huge totals to cover up for our poor seamers. Cricket is a bowling/batting affair , we can't continue to blame seam - but to do something about it.

Good initiative starting with Utseya.

Career economy rates of our opening bowlers today: 4.13 (fabulous) and 9.32 (!)

We will probably need 300+ against most teams to win matches. Let's hope our bowlers can step up to the mark today.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

14 off Chigumbura's first over. That's atrocious. 5 overs, 0/40 for S Masakadza isn't much better.

Nobody is questioning the class of Smith and Amla, but this is just bad bowling.

Short of playing 5 specialist spinners I don't see anything we can do to fix this problem. Rainsford looked out of sorts, and while Nicolson and Chatara are unknowns there's nothing to suggest they won't get punished either. Chigumbura's always been expensive (not this bad though) but at least he was a regular wicket taker. Now he's not even doing that :?

Clearly Price, Utseya and Cremer are where our hopes with the ball lie. 20 overs still need to be found from somewhere though... Maybe Gary Brent can be lured out of retirement. :|

And as I finish writing this, Chigumbura takes the bowling powerplay. What a complete lack of foresight. The last five overs have gone at 7.20, why not wait until a wicket falls and take it then? When was the last time Zimbabwe had an astute captain?

Chigs is really under pressure now, Not Bowling well, No Big sixes and bad captaining decisions. Why dont ZC just swallow their pride, Appoint Tibba as the captain. let Utseya Bowl, Let Chigs do hi all round thing and everybody is happy.

That's not a fair comment. Dont jump to conclusions. The batting coach is the lone saviour as far as todays bowling is concerned.

Making personnel changes when Zim play South Africa is just like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic !!!
