To be honest I think a 3-2 Bangladesh series win would be a good result for this Zimbabwe team. Our batsmen aren't great at playing spin and Bangladesh are very confident after hammering a New Zealand team that is better than the current Zimbabwe team.

I'd agree...I would have accepted a similar 2-3 loss to NZ a few weeks back as signs of some progress. So 3-2 to BD would be a good start for ZIM, as it would not go down well in Bangladesh. However, given that ZIM has pushed BD to 2-2 as recently as Jan 2009, I'd imagine that its within the bounds of reason to even ask for a series win here. But the latest results indicate that perhaps 3-2 to BD would be more than adequate for ZIM to prove that they're building on their tri series performance from last summer.

No less than a series win for Zimbabwe be it 3-2, 4-1 or 5-0. I hope Sakib remains quite as he speaks too much at times without realizing the thin demarcation of confidence and over-confidence

I think the biggest difference between these sides will be Shakib Al Hasan. He is the best allrounder in ODI cricket at the moment. If we can nullify him, we have a chance.

The one guy that played him well was Coventry. I remember he hit him for 3 consecutive 6's on our last tour over there. Coventry could actually have been the guy to have taken the attack to him, put him off his lines slightly.

I'm actually bullish, a 3-2 win to Zim. I think it's easy to underestimate the ability of the current squad. Utseya, Price, Taylor and Taibu are capable of getting into their squad; Cremer and Ervin are great prospects who must deliver; our spin quartet can be handful (if we go all spin attack). Our seam bowling is a weakness exemplified by the SA tour but we were playing on batting tracks, against Amla and de Villiers, and using inexperienced young bowlers. It's only been 2 years of stable domestic cricket and the results have been impressively quick to show improvement. If NZ has dropped a notch, then a cluster has been created with us, Bangladesh, NZ and possibly WI. I really believe that.

Ideally i want Zimbabwe to win, but i'm looking at how we've bowled recently and it doesn't look great. I think it's fair to say that our batting will take care of itself, but the bowling is a big concern. I think somebody mentioned either in this thread or another one, that our spinners are guys who can contain the batsmen. The Bangladeshi spinners contain and take wickets, and that's the key to this series, wickets.

I think thats an unfair assessment of Sakib, IMHO. The reason being that I can only remember two questionable things he's said, and both times he was correct. He predicted a 4-1 win the last time you guys toured and after we were down 0-1. I remember some Indian fans said "win a game first before you talk" but clearly Sakib knew something others didn't. Same thing against NZ, when after taking a 2-0 lead, he said "4-0 was possible". I'll be the first to jump on him for getting ahead of himself, but so far he's two for two.

The very reason behind some glittering results Bangladesh has had in recent times is that confidence of their captain, Shakib. And as long as he walks the talk, there is nothing wrong there. That is exactly where we might be benefitted, if we have Ray Price as skipper.

I agree 100% with you. Raymond Price, THE LEGEND as the skipper of Zimbabwe.
