Since we're only a couple of months away from the beginning of the World Cup, I think we should open a thread and make a squad of players that would be in contention for being selected.
Okay so first of all lets make a preliminary squad of 30. In the squad we need to consider the guys who have proved their worth so far in first class cricket. So what I'll do is pick 30 guys, and then have a discussion of who should be in the squad. If anybody disagrees with selection, feel free to add or replace a player or too
Now if you were given that Preliminary squad, what would your 15 man squad be, taking into consideration the wickets are slow and low in the sub-continuant.

I notice Keith Dabengwa has been ommitted from the preliminary squad. You know he is going to be in the world cup squad. They will leave Hamilton Masakadza at home and take Dabengwa instead.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

If Hamilton can be dropped then NOBODY is safe. Except third grade Zimbabwe at the cup. Not long time ago, Duffin captained Zim in tests, so expect Masvure or Chatara leading Zim in 2011

Hmmm... Like the idea very much, sloandog.
Will post the squad soon.

You are wrong, Dr Situ. I'm sure that Duffin didn't captain Zimbabwe in tests. He played 2 tests against India in 2005 under the captaincy of Taibu.
He was also the captain in the 2006 tour of the West Indies.
Shortly after he was sacked for reasons unknown to me.
If Duffin continues to perform well though, there's no reason why he can't break into our ODI unit. If Matskinyeri and Dabengwa can do it, then he certainly can too.

I dont know what special technique the selectors see in Dabengwa that we dont see . I guess if someone has access to Alistar Campbell we can get answers
