I'd like to see Raza Butt make it into the squad, i watched him play in the 20/20 games in Zim and he plays very well. Aggressive top order batsmen to take a bit of the strain off Taylor.
Butt
Taylor
H.Mazakadza,
C.Ervine
J.Chibahba
Taibu
Lamb
Butterworth
Utseya
Price
Mpofu

I remember him playing in his debut test where he hit 50 against India. I might have mixed ODI captaincy with Tests. Yup he led in Carribean and it was the time when Chibhabha blossomed and Rinke withered.Detective RDS wrote:You are wrong, Dr Situ. I'm sure that Duffin didn't captain Zimbabwe in tests. He played 2 tests against India in 2005 under the captaincy of Taibu.Dr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote: Not long time ago, Duffin captained Zim in tests, so expect Masvure or Chatara leading Zim in 2011
But Duffin did captain Zimbabwe in his ODI debut against Kenya.

Yes yes I can also rememberDr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:

Duffin played very well in that particular innings and I also think that he will be definitely in contention when Zimbabwe will regain test stats. And for Chibhabha, I would like to say it was only the Carribean series where I liked his batting very much. He was playing shots in the off side terrifically. Don't know if he changed his technique afterwards or I stopped liking his batting

Sorry, my reply is little bit off topic

You can reconsider the following mentioned players:sloandog wrote:Since we're only a couple of months away from the beginning of the World Cup, I think we should open a thread and make a squad of players that would be in contention for being selected.
Okay so first of all lets make a preliminary squad of 30. In the squad we need to consider the guys who have proved their worth so far in first class cricket. So what I'll do is pick 30 guys, and then have a discussion of who should be in the squad. If anybody disagrees with selection, feel free to add or replace a player or too
(B.Taylor, H.Mazakadza, R.Price, G.Cremer, G.Lamb, P.Utsea, E.Chigumbura, J.Chibahba, K.Meth, S.Marrilliar, R. Chagabva, T.Chitara, C.Mpofu, S. Mazakadza, I.Nicolson, K. Jarvis, C.Ervine, S.Williams, T.Mawoyo, C.Coventry, M.Waller, R.Butterworth, S.Raza, T.Duffin, M.Vermuelan, J.Nyumbu, N.Ncube, V.Sibanda, E.Rainsford and T.Taibu.)
S.Marrilliar, T.Chitara, T.Mawoyo, S Raza, J.Nyumbu and N.Ncube
And have a look at the following players:
Keith Dabengwa
Gavin Ewing
Tinashe Panyangara
Blessing Mahwire
Stuart Matsikenyeri
Forster Mutizwa
Timycen Maruma
Tafadzwa Kamungozi
I think among them Mutizwa, Panyangara, Ewing and Mahwire certainly deserve to be in the preliminary squad...

Nobody has mentioned Sean Ervine. Has he ruled himself out yet?

Both Ewing and Mahwire have appeared at the test level. Kamungozi has done OK in the ODIs he played for Zimbabwe. But I won't pick him in the preliminary squad.sloandog wrote:what's ewing done to deserve selection though...?

For Ewing and Mahwire, banking on experience rather than anything else. To show them they are in the list of top 30 cricketers of Zimbabwe...

Not sure, mate...sloandog wrote:No Kamungozi failed at international cricket...He did terrible in 2006

5 wickets in 4 ODIs at 32 seemed OK to me...
