Re: Playing for Australia
He did a great Job against Oz in 2003 though !
He took 6 wickets against a very good Australian side, in a test match too

Re: Playing for Australia
I guess Paul Strang in his prime might have made the current Australia side. Even though Price is a great bowler, I think people forget how good Paul Strang and also Adam Huckle were.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
Re: Playing for Australia
I disagree. Yes, there is some awesome talent in Australia but not when it comes to spin bowling. They are not the power they once were, and have with the exception of the West.Indies, the weakest spin bowling attack in the world. Look at Beer who made the 12 in the last test, yet was playing district cricket in melbourne a year ago, he's 26 so he's hardly a teenage prodigy, Doherty was and still is a shield plodder, Hauritz is okay but not as crafty, wily or aggressive as Price. The reason i think Price would walk into the current aus team is not because i think he's a superstar, it's because he's better than anyone Australia have at the moment.ZIMDOGGY wrote:i dont mean to derail the price train,
but i dont think price would evenmake an aussie state side.
price can keep things economical, thats what he does and all he can do really.
thats VERY valuable in a ODI or t20 but theres not alot to him.
he wouldnt have ever cracked the grade system and got into a sheffield shield team.
despite whats happening in the aussie team....theres some awesome talent in australia and sheff shieldis a huiger standard than county
Re: Playing for Australia
i see your point but what im trying to say is if you transplanted price from the zim side to the aussie side (in an ODI) he would be the same old price racking up the 1-45 type of figures (they would be slightly higher as he would be against proper countries not bangladesh and ireland) BUT my point is he would never have got that far up the ladder....spin is a funny thing as its not easily measured. he doesnt have any trick balls, how could you justify him over hauritz for instance when comparing the two after a grade match?
i could be wrong, but thats how my gut feels it

Re: Playing for Australia
i agree 100 percent , hauritz was hardly done buy. he had one bad tour but before then was the aussies leading wicket taker for the summer as well as making two 50s on top of that. price is our best bowler but i promise you he would not get a game for AUS or even a state side maybe outh austalia because they have absoloutley no spinners. price is one of the best players zim has produced of spin but caus we have no others like im it makes him look good. aus had warne , hogg, may, mcgill, benaud. no one will ever be able to set those standards in our life time again. hauritz is a better bowler than price and a better cricketer but doesnt have the heart or determination of price.ZIMDOGGY wrote:i see your point but what im trying to say is if you transplanted price from the zim side to the aussie side (in an ODI) he would be the same old price racking up the 1-45 type of figures (they would be slightly higher as he would be against proper countries not bangladesh and ireland) BUT my point is he would never have got that far up the ladder....spin is a funny thing as its not easily measured. he doesnt have any trick balls, how could you justify him over hauritz for instance when comparing the two after a grade match?
