What an amazing tournament Afghanistan are having. We can forget about them playing Zimbabwe anytime soon, they will now behave as if they are even bigger super stars.

But credit where it's due. Unbelievably good tournament for the Afghans, who are still in the race for Semi Finals. Something for Zimbabwe and Ireland to learn from, these guys have come through against the odds with relatively less fixtures, not so much money, war torn nation, Taliban taking over... I don't think Zim or Ire can have any excuses.
They get full member funding despite not meeting the criteria to be full members. It’s not against the odds at all. Approximately 15x larger annual funding grant than the Netherlands. And I wouldn’t say they are 15x better than the Dutch.

And they don’t have to spend a large % of their income on women’s and girls cricket like Zim and Ire are forced to.

Pretty sure the majority of their team or certainly the higher profile stars haven’t set foot in the country since the Taliban takeover either. So not sure that’s as much of a hardship for them as you think.
100% ^

Proper scumbags the Afghans and the ICC for letting it happen. Should be banned.

You geniuses forgot to whine about the Afghans fielding overage players in this tournament, so of course they would be in the running for the semis.

I'm just glad Bangladesh smashed them in the Asia Cup and at the World Cup! We're undefeated aganinst the Afghans in ICC events!!!

Don't worry it's only two months until the next U19WC where you try to once again claim the 45-year old former warlords playing for Afghanistan are actually 12 years old.

If you swing the age thing in the other direction it would explain the 9 year old brides.

As a BD fan need a few more results and margins in our favor to seal up one of the last berths for the CT. Bangladesh will be eyeing Netherlands and Sri Lanka ahead of them. The Tigers need to remember that for 8 years they’ve been the 7th ranked ODI side, and need to use that as motivation to make a final push in the last couple of WC games. Finishing ahead of SL, NED, and ENG is still very much within reach and more importantly still doing considerable disservice to Bangladesh’s talent and ability.

How is Afghanistan still producing cricketers? I get the big name guys probably just live in Dubai or somehow, but there must be someone on the ground in Afghanistan overseeing the next generations?
