Duffin, 28, has played two Tests and 23 ODIs for Bangladesh. In the 50-over format, Duffin has three half-centuries and an average of 23.73."
for the cricinfo article. I know it's a typo but for a few moments i was totally confused as to why Duffin had played for Bangladesh. Had a good chuckle about it once i managed to figure it out.

This is insane! How Duffin, in the circumstances, be more useful than Masakadza, is beyond me. Ali Campbell can give hundreds of reasons, but the fact is, he hasn't proved anything at the top level yet, unlike Masakadza. And he will effectively be just carrying drinks by the looks of it for the whole of the tournament. The rules aren't that strict it seems when it comes to naming the replacements. They need not be from the reserves, but can be from the initial 30. Absolutely ridiculous.Matabeleland Tuskers batsman Terrence Duffin, who replaced injured Tinotenda Mawoyo in the 15-man Zimbabwe World Cup squad, said he was happy to be returning to the tournament.
The 28 year-old left-hander will be making a return to the national team after a lengthy absence after last playing for Zimbabwe against the West Indies in 2007.
“I received the news from team manager Lovemore Banda this morning (Thursday).
“I was excited about the prospect of making a return to the national team.
“I’m definitely looking forward to the challenge and I know there will be added pressure on me because I’ll be joining the team at the last minute but I see it as an opportunity to revive my international career,” said Duffin.
He made his debut for Zimbabwe in 2005 and has 23 One-Day International (ODI) caps, scoring 543 runs at an average of 23 runs.
He also has two Test caps under his belt and briefly captained the side during the 2005-2006 season.
Duffin’s inclusion as Mawoyo’s replacement will however be subject to approval by the ICC’s Events Committee before he can officially be included in the squad.
Zimbabwe Cricket chairman of selectors Alistair Campbell said they had to make a choice between Duffin and Vusimuzi Sibanda, the only two batsmen left on the non-travelling reserves.
“In the end we settled on Duffin because he is more comfortable playing spin in the slow wickets in the sub-continent unlike Sibanda who is more effective on bouncy wickets.
“He has a good technique in countering the turn and sweeps very well which has helped him post some good performances at the top and middle order in the past.”
“The other factor that weighed in his favour is that he has also had a good season in the domestic league with Tuskers where he has scored some crucial runs,” said Campbell.
This season he has been in good form for the Matabeleland Tuskers and was the team’s leading scorer in the Metbank Pro40 Championship with 188 runs in seven matches at an average of just over 37 runs.
Although Duffin is only the natural second opener in the team besides Brendan Taylor, Campbell said he would be in the team to give “back up to the team” in the event that there are more injuries, a clear indication that the selectors have settled on the opening pair of Charles Coventry and Taylor.
Duffin was expected to fly out of the country on Thursday afternoon for Chennai in India where he would link up with the rest of the squad ahead of the warm up match against South Africa on Saturday.
Zimbabwe is Group A with defending champions Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Canada and Kenya and they will kick-start their campaign against Australia on February 21 in Ahmedabad in India.

I am disappointed that Masakadza has not been selected but if it was a choice between Duffin and Sibanda the selectors have made the correct choice. Sibanda has had his chances over the years and failed to deliver, it will be good to see if Duffin has improved his game since his last international stint.

Terence Duffin?! Oh dear, oh dear. Pack the offside field and bowl outside his off stump and you wont get any runs out of him. He really possesses no other shots outside the square cut, well, except for the sweepshot mentioned above. Anyway good luck, Terry!

I like Duffin. He's one of those gritty batters who hates to give his wicket away, a good move in my opinion. He'll bring stability to the batting line up for sure....if he gets a game, which looks highly unlikely

Gutted for Tino.
He really deserved his big break.
I hope he comes back in the future.
