Re: Openers failing
it now appears as though Masakadza would have been a better choice, but he did himself no favors but looking quite clueless in the several matches leading up to the Cup.
Coventry reminds me exactly of our Mohammad Ashraful: batsman who for whatever reason can't capitalize on the few sterling innings in their pockets. Not sure if Coventry has the technique or talent to play at this level like Ashraful does, but he certainly seems to lack the cricketing brain just like his Bangladeshi cousin. At least Ashraful has worked on spin bowling and is trying to reinvent himself as an all-rounder (and invent some new dance moves along the way).

On that criteria Zim should pick me to open.
Another ODI, another innings from Coventry, another failure.
Time to consign Coventry to the past and go with someone else.
Get the plane ready, fly Matsi out to the tournament.

Sorry Coventry, it's not working out.

Re: Openers failing
I know its an Openers post but i think it must be so long to Chiggs as well. He is in the team to captain the side only these days
Success is a journey, not a destination
Re: Openers failing
We may as well just open with Taibu - he has virtually been opening anyway. Coventry is more effective down the order I think. Matsi would probably be a better allrounder than Chigs at the moment - at least Matsi can bowl and he might score 10 runs.

Yay,
Matsi Mania is running wild in Zimcricketforums.
The clamour for Matsi in the side is growing exponentially.

Having Matskinyeri in the side doesn't sound a bad idea...
