Williams Out with Broken Thumb, Sibanda In

Post by maehara »

Williams fractured his thumb during training ahead of the NZ match and is out for the rest of the competition. The ICC have approved Vusi Sibanda as his replacement. I guess that gives us an alternative opener to Chopper...

I wonder if there is more than we are being told to the Masakadza exclusion? The selectors seem absolutely intent on selecting any candidate ahead of him regardless of their comparative credentials. Perhaps there is some sort of disciplinary issue...

I don't know what he's done, but he's clearly pissed someone off bigtime. I don't care what form he's in, he should be higher in our pecking order than our 4th-choice opener. Very, very strange.

If you look at his record across the last 2 years, domestically and internationally, across all 3 formats, and compare it to all the competition, bar possibly Taylor, you'd struggle to argue that he is not Zim's best all round batsmen, let alone that he isn't in the best 10! Very strange, I genuinely think there must be something that we are not being told.

all these injuries have exposd Zc agenda against hamilton. But like i said early i am sure we will start hearing these stories afta the cup. Especially if the bonuses and payments come late and if coventary opens again then we are not going anywhere and not learning.

Shocking decision to take Sibanda to the cup.

Hammie should go, and if not Hammie then Matsi should be there. Matsi is a very competent opener.

There's some really strange things going on...
The lack of willingness to pick Mazakadza, the fact that Coventry is STILL opening...and here's a starnge one for you, sean williams posted on his facebook saying 'international cricket is over for me...time to look elsewhere..' Strange :? What's going on ?

I hope there is nothing untoward going on in Zimbabwean cricket. There has to be something going on with Masakadza. Sibanda hasn't even been close to being selected for the national team over the last year and now he is playing in the World Cup?!

Perhaps he is fed up of being constantly injured and is thinking of a career change.
