He is more than capable to come in should Cremer or Price be injured.
How about Utsea in.....and gods miracle Stuart Matskinyeri out...? Shocking I know
I know you are passionate about our side, Sloandog, so why would you want to leave our proven matchwinner out ?
A talented batsman but a modest, hardworking character, Stuart Matsikenyeri is the third of three school friends from Churchill Boys High School, Harare to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket. - Cricinfo.

What is your problem with Ballance ?
I know you glug down the H8erade when it comes to Matsi. But what is your problem with Ballance ? He would appear to be the part for test matches to me.

Ballance: 3rd-highest run scorer in the Logan Cup this year, with 718 runs at an average of 51.28. Not too shabby. Play him in the 'A' tri-series and see how he does.
Suspect that when the time comes, our Test side should look rather different from the one-day side...

I doubt Ballance is available. I'd have thought he'll do a S.Ervine/Ireland, and not void his county contract by playing for Zim.
When has "ripping the side up and starting again" ever worked? It certainly didn't work in 2004-05 when the rebels left. In fact, when has it worked for any team? In any sport!
Wholesale changes only serve a purpose when focusing on the future and developing players. What Zimbabwe has now is a core group of players around 24/25 years old - this is the developing group of players and they are probably building to peak in about 3 or 4 years time.
The key from here is to focus on what our deficiencies are and how can they be fixed? Clearly our fast bowling department is lacking - Zimbabwe need to have either an economical group of pacers or a speedy group of pacers. At the moment we have neither (ie. they are expensive and not that fast). I think Jarvis has the most potential to fill this void, but there may be others like Chatara who could perform and it is the selectors/coaches role to find them and get them playing A team matches. The middle order also seems to be a problem, but I think this is more due to form than lack of talent. I think at their best both Craig Ervine and Elton Chigumbura are first eleven players. Plus Hamilton Masakadza is a proven performer who could slot anywhere from 1 to 4. Otherwise the other thing lacking is consistency - and that will come with more games against higher quality opposition. Over the next 6 months Zimbabwe are scheduled to play quite a few games at home, I think the teams performance over that period is going to be a better indicator of progress than our performances during the World Cup.
It would be stupid to rip up this side. This team may not be very good but they are the best we have. Remember that our current group of under-19 players have hardly covered themselves in glory on the international stage. We don't really have many worldclass players coming through the system at the moment. We have some talented players but not worldclass ones. This current group of players (Taylor, Chigumbura, Panyangara, etc) were in perhaps our best performing under-19 team and even they have struggled with consistency. I find it hard to believe that any of our young players are going to do any better than this group.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Word.
These are by and large the best players available, no one else would be a miracle cure that would suddenly start winning games.

I still honestly think that Ian Nicholson is going to be a major part of our future test side.
Hee's literally taking atleast 4 wickets every first class match he plays, and his economy rate has dipped dramatically.
Along with Johnson, Chitara, Jarvis and Shingrai Mazakadza have the ability to bowl 90Mph. That's where Streak comes in...he has to find a way of channeling that raw talent into good line and length, pace will have to come later.
