[Match thread] Kenya vs Zimbabwe

Post by brmtaylor.com admin »

Only pride to play for in this match... Zimbabwe still need to field a strong team and play well though; there's still the matter of demonstrating that the team is a cut above associate level. The thrashing against Canada will count for very little if we stumble against the Kenyans... if possible I think bowl first regardless of the conditions. The last position we want to be in is 4/40 ten overs into the match against Kenya.

I'd go with: Taylor, Coventry, Taibu, Ervine, Lamb, Chigumbura, Chakabva, Utseya, Cremer, Price, Mpofu

One final chance for the Taylor/Coventry experiment to pay off? Although I'd say there is a greater than 50% chance that Duffin will play, score a century and chaos will ensue here at ZCF with threads:
  • attacking Campbell for not playing him earlier
  • calling for him to be made the permanent ODI opener
  • saying he should be given back the ODI captaincy and made Test captain
  • debating who has the better technique between Duffin and Sibanda
  • implying Duffin has more coaching experience than Butcher/Streak/Flower and would be a good captain/coach of the national team
  • discussing how fast Duffin can bowl and whether he could replace Chigumbura as an allrounder
;)

I agree with your choice of Coventry but would like to use him in the middle order to provide cushion for Chiggs. Forget about Duffin. His inclusion was an eyewash. He is not sweating in Kolkata rather already back home in Zimbabwe. Reason given-Injury

Another injury? Zimbabwe hasn't had a good run over the last few weeks... :(

Well, I guess that reduces Duffin's chances of playing to zero... but I still think there's a chance a few of those threads might appear anyway ;)

Maybe the amount of injuries should be telling us something about the fitness of our side

I was just about to start a thread about how Duffin should be the captain.

Any reason why Seren Waters of Kenya has not been in the lineup recently. I noticed he had a couple of bad performances but I thought he was someone Kenya was counting on.

thanks

50 up in 14th over. Much depends on 'local boy' Knight rider Taibu.

Campell must just stay out of the commentary box! Hes lucky he is not in there with Neil Johnson he would have asked him all the questions that Ian Botham is just dying to know. And @vusi brings up his 50 and the 100 partnership wit a huge six.

Vusi and Tibba have been involved in 31 runouts between together. It looks like Tibba was at fault. But Vusi also should gave seen earlier that Tibba is not running today. Vusi could have gone to 100.

Chakabva should not be seen anywhere near the opening spot.
