Everyone in Zim gets out because of poor shot selection more often than not. Taibu, as you note, is a particular culprit but his inclusion is never in doubt, why? He's a good wicketkeeper (good reason), experienced (valid) and his average is not "dismal" at 29. His strike rate is almost 67. However he has played a whopping 49 ODIs more than Sibanda. Earlier on I admitted Vusi's strike rate and average aren't good enough (yet) for an international top order guy but that's something that can be worked upon. Given a run in the side, are you confident that in 49 more matches his average won't at least equal 29? Like Williams, if the technique and talent are there, experience can only improve things. Before you mention his prior experience, there was no structure to support these guys. Ervine is lucky to break into the side with such support systems we have now.eugene wrote:Sibanda's average of 22 is dismal and his strike rate is even worse - 60. The only way he will succeed is with better shot selection. Too many times I have seen him come out looking to be in good nick and then get out with a poor shot. Admittedly he is hardly the only Zimbabwean to struggle with poor shot selection. Taibu is always getting out trying to play stupid shots.
Let the Vusi Sibanda lovefest continue!
