Source: Zimbabwe Independent. Deja vu, anyone? There was a similar issue last year - ZC refused permission, Taylor went to Holland anyway, ZC backed down. Wonder how it'll play out this year...Kingpin Zimbabwe batsman, Brendan Taylor (left), nearly quit the team last month, but the danger is not fully averted until Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) grants him leave to play overseas, his father has said.
Graham Taylor said his son, the 22-year-old Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman, is still negotiating with ZC officials to be allowed to take up one of two offers at clubs in England and Holland.

Re: Taylor Considers Quitting
Negotiating carries expectations. If ZC were going to deny him leave, I doubt they would be in the mood for negotiating. Plus, Northerns are resting their top players. Chigumbura and Taylor aren't playing, Price was only brought back when they struggled in the first game... there is no good reason why ZC wouldn't allow Taylor to leave....the 22-year-old Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batsman, is still negotiating with ZC officials to be allowed to take up one of two offers at clubs in England and Holland.
His father's right. There's no international cricket, he's not even playing the Faithwear series... the players should be allowed to go overseas. My hunch is that on June 3rd, the day after the Faithwear series end, ZC will be flexible with players going overseas.

I hope you are right.

Re: Taylor Considers Quitting
Zimbabwe have a core group of players: http://stats.cricinfo.com/statsguru/eng ... pe=batting
That is from the past 2 years, in which 35 ODI's have been played.
Elton Chigumbura (all 35 ODI's), Brendan Taylor (33) and Prosper Utseya (32) - the three mainstays of the team.
ZC, hopefully, don't want to disrupt that. Everyone knows that it is important for Zimbabwe to lose no more squad members, particularly people like Brendan Taylor who have proven to be match winners.

I think taylor is way more important than bloomin terrence duffin..With this in mind i think taylor should be allowed to go to england!!+. Who would be a ready made replacement for taylor batting wise to come into the ODI squad if the unthinkable happens? The only name that springs to mind for me is a certain regis chakabva
Re: Taylor Considers Quitting
I think ZC might let Brendan Taylor play overseas. They let Tatenda Taibu play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and he is back playing for Northerns again in the faithwear series, so they should let Taylor play abroad.

BREAKING NEWS
Just as we thought that now the domestic season is over, this is going to be a slow few months...
Taylor has issued an ultimatum to the board. Allow him leave by Friday or he's gone.

Not too much debate really, he's playing in England: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/cr ... -20984266/Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Elton Chigumbura, who is believed to have gone to play in England while the Faithwear Cup was underway at home, remains a subject of debate.
Chigumbura is said to have left for the UK even though centrally-contracted players were not allowed to miss the domestic one-day competition. It is not believed he received ZC clearance, but officials insisted he was in the country and receiving treatment following an injury.
If Taylor goes without the board's approval, I doubt ZC would be stupid enough to sack he and Chigumbura. Without Chigumbura and no Brent, there's no bowling attack. Without Chigumbura and Taylor, there is no batting attack. ZC would be very foolish to lose two of their best players...Eppleton’s new Zimbabwean Test player Elton Chigumbura made his debut at Burnmoor on Saturday, but it was old hand Jimmy Daley who stole the show with another century.

Re: Taylor Considers Quitting
Don't see how they can refuse permission to either Taylor or Chigumbura after granting Taibu leave to skip half the inter-provincial season to sit on a bench in India. At least the the UK they'll be playing...
