The bottom line is simple...

NONE of our fast bowlers are ready for test cricket, exept Mpofu, so why not get the quickest we have, and give them a go.
Putting in guys like Rainsford, Mpofu and Meth in will not get us 20 wickets. If we're going to take wickets, pace is needed, and believe it or not, we have it! It's just not ready to be released yet which is the most frustrating thing....
If we were to play ot first test back in 2012, our attack would be class!

Our medium pace trundlers are not going to pick up any wickets in test cricket, unless the batsmen get bored and get out to a silly shot. Bowlers like Keegan Meth might be useful in the ODI format, particularly if he can slow the run rate but in test cricket he could bowl all day and probably pick up one wicket at best - unless the pitch is a minefield. Perhaps Zimbabwe should bring in some portable pitches from NZ. Some greentops would help us get 20 wickets.

Really eugene? How do guys like Z Khan and Sreesanth take wickets in tests then? That view completely ignores the facts. It makes me wonder if you even watch/follow test cricket with that view. Even your NZ's medium pacers take test wickets. Just say you love Jarvis and want him in the team and get it over with, there's no need to write falsehoods about test cricket in order to justify it.

You are correct that the Indian bowling attack isn't the greatest but none of the current Zimbabwean bowlers are in the same class as Zaheer Khan or even Sreesanth. Mpofu would probably pick up a few wickets but other than that I am not sure many of our other bowlers would.

Can't understand why the potential of Tewndai Chatara is being ignored, or at best being pushed out to "another season of first class cricket"; and in the same breath, Kyle Jarvis, a bowler with only FIVE first class matches under his belt, who hadn't till last month played cricket for a full year is pushed onto the starting eleven?

Test cricket is precisely what Keegan Meth is suited to, Euguene. He might only be medium pace (135km/hr is not to bad, Mpofu is not much faster) but he has wicket taking deliveries. Tell me one bowler so far who has been able to swing is both ways! That dramatically increases your wicket taking chances, as the Logan Cup, however quite underestimated it maybe, has shown already

His quickest ball was 75Mph mate. But it's what he does with it that excites me, something he couldn't show because of the slow low pitches of Bangladesh

Meth bowled a 131.5 KMPH ball, and that was the fasted I saw from him for the rest of the match. There rest were Chibhabha-esque. He must really have improved his game since the Bangladesh tour. But Jemisi I 100% agree with you. Mpofu and Rainsford are the way forward at the moment though I feel Chatara should get a chance in a couple of ODIs, just slowly bringing him into the international fold. You Jarvis-heads will be interested to know that there's a test camp happening in Zim and if your boy Jarvis is currently in the UK and not there, he's likely not in the selectors plans for the tests...yet...
