He's very much the softcock-
Some players have had it tough and done it tough and came from nothing to where they are now. That's grit. people from poor wartorn African countries are meant to be tough aren't they?

Maybe it was his time of the month?

Yeah, who knows. Didn't he quit once before?

I think there's different stages in cricket...

Stage 1 - Quitting: fully intend to return
Stage 2 - Conditional retirement: a form of grandstanding, the Pakistani's have mastered this to a fine art
Stage 3 - International retirement: also known as "the money factor", they could have kept playing internationally but decided to play IPL instead.
Stage 4 - Retirement?: a variant of Stage 5, where you never really know if they've stopped playing... Martin Crowe rewrote the history books and actually moved from Stage 5 back down to Stage 4.
Stage 5 - Retirement: when players actually stop playing.

So if Williams is only at Stage 1, there's no need to panic.

According to his Facebook page - and in a public chat that he had with David Coltart on it - once he's paid, he's coming back to play cricket for Zimbabwe.

Funny the paper would run the article without chatting with him. He doesn't seem to be that hard to get in contact with.

Instead of welling on this guy, how about focussing on some of the other players that could return for test cricket such as Ireland or a few of the saffers that talked about possibly playing for Zimbabwe during last domestic if given the opportunity through family connextions within the country.
