Aren’t you liberals supposed to be the BeKind crowd?
Re: Zimbabwe vs South Africa / 1st T20 / Tri-Series / Harare
Just listened to Raza's post match presser.
He's talking 10 to the dozen, did anyone even get a chamce to ask a question?
Maybe that was the plan
What's a winter wicket exactly?
The ball wasn't quite coming on, dont think thats a function of the season. but I stand to be corrected, he mentioned winter a couple of times. I always thought in winter the pitch was generally better and the outfield is certainly a lot faster.
It would be good to know why ZC always sets these ridiculously large boundaries square of the wicket. Theyre about the biggest in world cricket.
The upside is it can make games a bit tighter for us because it takes the big hitters out of the game a bit, but the downside is we dont get to see too many 6 shots taken on by our batters and when they get to play on a normal field we look bad. BUT we don't have big hitters so we look ok on that field.
I just think its weird. Also shit for our averages.
He bigged up Musekiwa. He scored a run a ball 9. Could have been worse for sure, but thats a low bar.
Wes has a much better chance of making runs than Clive.
Clive looked at sea against that bowling and NZ ain't gonna be any easier. From that squad Munyonga and Myers have better technique against the new ball than Clive. Take your pick. I'd perhaps pick both at 2 and 3. I'm hesitant to damage Wes further by dropping him entirely. I'd put him at 6ish. That's his comfort zone. 1-3 is ugly if youre not playing well.
Someone needs to ask about a seaming all-rounder. A 4th seam option would have been really useful today, like most days. Wellie had an ordinary day today. Madhevere, Bennett and Burl need to seriously up their games in the bowling dept, it frees up another seaming spot or another batting spot.
Raza's innings- saved the blushes, was a good innings- when is a 50 not good? But he needed to change gear sooner. A run a ball 28 (had he gone out) was not great. We need to be in a position where you back the "finishers". At the moment he's covering for them. He's always covered for them. He and Burl nudged it around until very late. They wait for the bad ball, we need to be able to take measured risk all the way thru or 150 is our ceiling on a good day. He waits until the 17th to take risk. Its ok but it's not how the big teams do it. They make a big song and dance about Musekiwa, but he never gets to face too many. 9 off 9 is not finishing, it's surviving. He mustn't say this is the team, barring the 2/3 spot when he has no confidence in them.
Im being critical but we need to improve on this.
Once again, here's our WC team -
Bennett
Welch
Knackers
Williams
BT (cpt keeper)
Raza
Higgins
Burl (Im benching Wellie)
Evans.
Ngarava
Mazarabani.
Bench Wellie, Gwandu, Melch, plus one other batter. Ervine?
I would also have Chivanga?
This is hands down our best team we can put on the park for the qualifiers and the WC, because this team gets us there.
Anything else is just a load of bullshit and politics.
As a batting unit you can be confident of the guy behind you until 9.

Re: Zimbabwe vs South Africa / 1st T20 / Tri-Series / Harare
To be fair this was not the worst game we have played. It's just that the losses are piling up. It's crazy to think that Wes, Madande, Musekiwa and Munyonga are all in that mid 20s age bracket. The chances are going to dry up in the next 18 months if they are not careful. Get dropped this time and you might not come back.
Myers is slightly younger than them so I wouldn't put him in the same bracket but I see them promoting the likes of Bawa and Taruvinga soon. It's becoming hard to defend. Some of those stats are now in Matsikenyeri territory.
I'm also not a fan of having T20 players who can't hit a six to save their life. Madande has one shot. Wes actually doesn't have one. We saw how the South Africans easily hit a six when a little bit of pressure was built up. I would rather try someone like Munyonga up the order because you won't get a 9 ball/ 1 run disaster from someone like him. You won't get that from Musekiwa either. 9 runs from 4 overs by those 2 killed us.

It also adds more pressure on Bennett (not that i think it phases him).
Having a left hander up the order would make things a bit easier too.

I think with the Zim team's on field performance, the shade just throws itself.
