Was an excellent over against BB. Its doing a wee bit this morning.

I saw that when Welch's name was on the sheet Mawoyo said 'Welch keeps his place.' He scored a half century in his last game. Is he just disliked and being given these opportunities in the hope he fails?

Welch is the only player in the batting lineup that doesn’t have a cemented place.

Both openers cemented (only injuries would change those and even then they don’t see welch as an opener)

Ervine, Williams, Raza will play every game they are fit for.

Then you have the keeper which will rotate round as we don’t really have a decent keeper bat at this time.

That leaves one spot between Welch, Taylor, Madhevere etc. it’s a tough call between Welch and Taylor.

The other option is we don’t play a spinner and leave that to Bennett/ Raza, that would free up an extra batsmen which is probably prefer as Welch keeps his place and they could stick Taylor in or Brian Madhevere back or another prodigy to fit in that spot down the order.

Taylor can only replace Welch realistically in the side unless he is going to be the wicketkeeper. If he does replace Tsiga, Welch will be the sacrificial lamb for DEI quota so expect a Makoni or something in the second test. Welch really is playing for his spot here

I don't know about batting first here. This batting lineup needed easing into the the game. We are in trouble here. And without assistance later on, our bowlers will struggle.

We won the toss as well. Surprised we opted to bat.
Matt Henry bowling a seriously long spell here. He's proper, probably the best in the world. Curran played a poor shot

I felt they wanted to show some confidence.
Not seem so negative.

After sending teams in first and having huge totals scored
