Who should bat at 6 in the upcoming Test?
Re: Who should bat at 6 in the upcoming Test?
I was under the impression that Lamb was injured. I might have him in place of Chigs or Meth if he is fit.

Yeah Lamb is injured. Didn't he recently have hip surgery or something?Jemisi wrote:I was under the impression that Lamb was injured. I might have him in place of Chigs or Meth if he is fit.

Why is Waller all of a sudden a sure thing for the test based on a single ODI performance???
2 are mutually exclusive and one shouldn't hold much weight for the other..... Unless we are asking Waller for a30 ball fiddy.
Warner, symonds, slater, Rhodes
I can go on with examples of players that rape attacks in one format but their skills are lost in translation across te other.

I don't think its just the recent 99, at least for me, its also due to an impressive start to the FC season ( 174 from his only innings) which isn't limited overs and I am on record as championing his cause along with Mutizwa (281 second only to Ballance at ave of 93.66 form 4 innings (1 100 and 1 50) and a HS of 164*), also see his Performances for the A side in the longer version, you will find (for me that is) they have earned their stripes, the more I think about it, maybe Mutizwa does deserve it marginally more, unfortunately many will be romantic about the recent 99..more to the point Zimmdoggy I don't think Waller (or Mutizwa) is in the Warner, Symonds and co group he is slightly more than that, I would say,Chibhabha and Chigs (of old) was more that kind of player.ZIMDOGGY wrote:Why is Waller all of a sudden a sure thing for the test based on a single ODI performance???

ZImdoggy, I've never agreed with the theory that a batsman is only good in one form of the game. A good batsmen will figure out the different approaches necessary for different forms of the game. Hell, even Kallis has adjusted to T20!!
Waller should get the nod for 2 reasons
1. He's a quality player. He's also a a team player as his 99no clearly showed. The selectors should back him and let him have a run.
2. He's in good form. Give him a go while his confidence and his abilities are up.

Look- I'm all for malcolm in the middle. All for it.
However I just believe it should be for the right reasons- not just the romantic knock.
As long as people make their judgments on Fc scires and shit then fine. I just suspect some people here are on the bandwagon.... And zcf loves a bandwagon to ride!

I voted for Ervine, but I'd pick both of them at the moment. Waller has done enough in FC cricket, along with Mutizwa to be on the cusp of test selection.
