Hhm, what evidence do you have to suggest that Panyangara is a test-calibre strike bowler? Panyangara looked good when he first emerged on the scene (like many rookies) and soon faded both in form and fitness. Over the following six years Panyangara has played on and off and looked rather ordinary both domestically and internationally when he was given a brief recall. He has lost most of his pace. What is there to suggest that he will suddenly be successful? And don't try your usual argument of 'we won't know until we try him' as that is not grounds to be picked for international cricket.

Panyanagara is rubbish

I know I've been saying that since I got to this forum but as of now, nov 22,2011 I just can't comprehend how ANYONE could think he deserves a recall. And that's me being very polite.

He's struggling to hold his place in the mountaineers team FFS.

I've been waiting 12 months to hear that from you. You used to love him.

Yeah Panyangara has done nothing. But remember, hhm thinks players like Jarvis, Vitori, Waller, Ervine, etc., need to go back and perform in domestic cricket despite being successful for the national side. Whereas Panyangara, Duffin, Maregwede, etc., don't need to do anything it seems to get selected for the national side other than having played cricket for 5 years or more. Panyangara was dismal in international cricket when he last played and is dismal in domestic cricket - not a secret recipe for success.

Again I'll say it, it comes down to risk/reward. hhm wants to contain and not lose by an innings whilst most of us would rather see Jarvis & Co. take (sometimes expensive) wickets and compete. Simple.

Eugene, I don't remember hhm mentioning Maregwede at any stage. Out of all the senior guys, Maregwede is one guy who has been starved of hhm's support
