Oh I forgot that Australia has tonnes of experience with Cummings (1 Test) Starc and Pattionson (2 Tests each) and Lyon a veteran of 7 Tests. Must be a NZ thing to inspire such a giving spirit. As it happens, I happen to think the young ones are good enough, and besides Shingi (also not experienced either) I really don't see anyone else complaining when we start winning with these youngsters.betterdays wrote:
If, as someone suggests, we see Querl, Vitori, Jarvis, Meth (and I'll just assume 'Cremer' based on the other 4 choices) sent over to NZ ... then please don't forget to wrap a bow round them, and attach a little christmas card saying "Dear Ross, sorry for the late delivery" !!OK maybe not that bad, but i hope there's some experience...

You also forgot to say that (possibly as a result) Australia lost to NZ in a test (not series) for the first time in 30 something years.Boundary wrote:Oh I forgot that Australia has tonnes of experience with Cummings (1 Test) Starc and Pattionson (2 Tests each) and Lyon a veteran of 7 Tests. .
Still, in Oz's defence at least Lyon (their 7-Test veteran) has more Test experience on his own than Querl, Vitori, Meth and Jarvis combined and he at least had Siddle in support (someone who has played two series in SA and never been on the losing side) who must be into double figures by now.
Boundary, I want these guys to do well - please don't think otherwise - but some experience must be there.

well i guess whole zim team is new then why you people are talking about experience and unexperience players.i guess its about best 11 players in the country playing for that country.

No, the whole Zim team is not new. Price has been around forever, Utseya has been round the international block ... along with Taylor, Taibu, Masakadza, Vusi and Chigumbura ... and now Mpofu has been persisted with for a while. I do believe there's a difference. We don't seem to find as much to argue about with the bats but with the bowlers I think the new theory of blooding anyone who has had 4/5 great games in a short season is going too far. We have a good bowling bench so arguments will ensue, but an attack without (for me 2) at least one of Price, Utseya and Mpofu is just asking for trouble...ricket wrote:[/b] well i guess whole zim team is new then why you people are talking about experience and unexperience players.i guess its about best 11 players in the country playing for that country.
Not always easy to agree on best 11...particularly when you factor 'experience' into your criteria of what constitutes 'best' ...

Well done the Goats! Another great bowling effort - hats off to Chatara and Pro. Only the number of wides by Chatara and Shingi worry me a tad, after what I'd seen during the Stanbic series I was starting to believe Shingi had finally found his radar. And Kasuza - what a star!
But please guys, has every match thread and every single domestic innings to turn into a debate about national call-ups?

Re: [Match Thread] Tuskers vs Mountaineers (Pro50)
It isn't surprising as it's not too far off now, and every time a game happens one of our favs performs and it's a chance to get a dig in but, and I think/hope so far I have only responded to those digs rather than initiated them. however, I know I am guilty of focussing on the further consequences of the games rather than the games themselves. I will try to refrain from doing so!foreignfield wrote: But please guys, has every match thread and every single domestic innings to turn into a debate about national call-ups?

Very impressive stuff from Kasuza. Chatara and Hami also in form. Nothing much for Tuskers at all to take from that match.
Re: [Match Thread] Tuskers vs Mountaineers (Pro50)
Batting lost that match for Australia, the novices took wickets just fine. As someone has mentioned, we can't expect to use the expirience argument every time, sometimes the best seam bowlers are the young ones (seeing as there was no one notable at the world cup last year aside from Mpofu).betterdays wrote:You also forgot to say that (possibly as a result) Australia lost to NZ in a test (not series) for the first time in 30 something years.Boundary wrote:Oh I forgot that Australia has tonnes of experience with Cummings (1 Test) Starc and Pattionson (2 Tests each) and Lyon a veteran of 7 Tests. .

Ok, I said i wouldn't use the match thread to talk int matches but as the game is old now i'll add another comment
You have a point about the seamers being considered but Mpofu we can say has some (Rainsford too), I would even stretch the truth and say Meth has a little (becasue of FC, and ODI - despite not really performing internationally yet). But Querl jumping the likes of Meth (or Chatara or Shingi) doesn't fit my bill.
The Price, Mpofu, Vitori, Jarvis I have come to terms with ...but, if, in the next year, i see Cremer, Meth, Vitori, Jarvis and maybe even Querl all taking to the field together - a small part of me will be excited but the sensible part of me will worry like hell
or batting won it for NZ ... it was another pitch which made bowlers look slightly better than it should have. I would like to see these Oz bowlers bowl on a flatter wicket than have been gifted them so far. I honestly think the experience argument can be used every time we head into a match with none.Boundary wrote:Batting lost that match for Australia, the novices took wickets just fine. Re: [Match Thread] Tuskers vs Mountaineers (Pro50)
experience isnt a worry seriously , having no fear when we are rebuilding is what you want , for example the aussies pace attack in 3 years will be amazing and the spin of lyon is a real bonus the guy is already impressing a lot of people . look at this cummins , pattinson , starc , and lyon in 3 years that will be a world beatr
