I think you may find he has already found a way ... at least to argue about the extremly superior quality of the competition (when missing current national players)!

James Marshall would not warm the zim bench - just take my word on that ... it's definitive!!! :)

I see his name was a result of the desperate attempt to classify him alongside Brad Wilson and veteran Joseph Yovich, as big wickets, after I had carefully noted his brother Hamish, Vettori & Watling!

Of course James Marshall wouldn't warm the Zim bench. He would be playing for the national side. He is at least as good/bad as Matsi.

A few years ago when he was in better form James Marshall was being selected for NZ. He has dropped off the radar alot since then. Anyway, James Marshall aside, Kyle Jarvis picked up top order wickets against a Northern Districts side that is stronger than any Logan Cup side.

that - because i generally agree with it - needs no evidence/argument. I think KJ should be in any team we put out - don't think i've veered from that position. Not sure he should be leading the attack but he would certainly make my test team

If you look at their batting charts eugene, you'll find that of the top 30, those very wickets he picked feature poorly - apart from Hamish. Those other top order wickets have on ething in common - no centuries in about 8 innings each. Not much of threat then - his kind of victims!

Have a look at this scorecard to see how powerful the Logan Cup is. In fact, all eight seamers outperformed him in the respective 1st innings - where as usual his effort yielded little despite 3 of the top seven being familiar to him. While he may have picked up 4 wickets in the 2nd innings, it was Manatsa who picked up the 3 of the 5 key wickets. He did pick up one of his nets sparring partners at the second attempt though. But this match made it impossible for Shingi to be excluded for the Napier Test, its 2nd innings further justifies why he made the breakthrough.

Just as these youngsters picked up the key wickets for him, Jarvis thrives on others doing the work for him, that's why we're allways doomed due to our Innings defeats! I agree that he shouldn't be leading the attack, but unlike you betterdays, I still wouldn't trust him beyond drinks right now!

Player-for-player I would back Northern Districts against any Logan Cup team any day of the week. The reason there is a lack of centuries in firstclass NZ cricket is due to the batting conditions (it has been a wet summer) and the fact that there are so many good pace bowlers in NZ cricket at the moment, including Jarvis.

If you really want to go down the domestic performances path hhm, perhaps you should look at the record of your beloved Panyangara.

I know we differ on this one but I think we're in deep with him and if he does thrive on those around him let's give Bobby a good partner to open and pump Ray full of longevity pills for a few more years

@Jemisi ... even still i will stress that i said test team and don't think i've ever said differently. i just think he's been thrown in before he should have and really cannot lead the attack - and i think i've felt that since rejoining this forum.
