Not long ago Vitori was a certainty as well, with Chigs totally out!

No they're not of similar class! Trust me on this one - Jarvis WILL be dropped. It only takes the inclusion of Rainsford/Panyangara. Those two have the experience and the class to make a lasting impression IF they are given a chance! Ncube, Meth and the other options are too inexperienced to hang on to the spots for too long. With Shingi striking as well as he is at the moment, and contributing a little with the bat, he might also push him out! Yes, Mpofu&Elton will remain a fixture.

I see FlowerPower acknowledged that the bowling IS THE concern, but was rather kind in only saying they shouldn't be leading the line!

For the record for me Chigs is still not a Test player not via the ball and certainly not via the bat on current form, so hardly an all rounder, as a bowler there are plenty ahead of him, Mpofu, Rainsford, Jarvis (yes Jarvis is a better bowler than Chigs in my books) maybe currently better than Vitori, but that is because of the latter's inexperience which will change with time... so Test: 8. Price 9. Jarvis/Shingi/Vitori 10. Rainsford 11. Mpofu....forget Panyangara, nothing personal against him, but he isn't up there for me.

ODI is a different ball game in the absence of any alternative, Elton owns the number 7. Shingi could grow into such competition though.

Fair enough. It's hard find plenty of scorecards in which the all featured. But comparing him to the youngsters, this Test and this ODI, acknowledge his failings with the bat, but 'IF' he does get his batting right, he is of more value than them! Nonetheless, you couldn't have been more accurate in your summary because stats agree with you when you compare how they've fared in the same match: Vitori-3wkts, econ7.68; Elton-3wkts, econ6.45; Jarvis-5wkts, econ5.71. Maybe an argument that Elton steps it up a notch when the opposition is stiffer! :)

At 25 yrs, Shingi is about the same age as Elton, so I'm not sure how much growing he'll do while Elton does less of it. Slowly but surely his bowling is improving, but as a batsman Elton is still to reach the peak age of at least 28, so he's still a star in the making, unlike some pretenders! He WILL be a top 10 allrounder for one of the formats, in 2yrs time!

Hhm I have never doubted the talent of rainsford and have always been a strong advocate of him in the zimbabwe squad. His many 4/5 wicket hauls at first class level bear testament to that. payangara only has one 5 wicket haul so if he aint ripping it up domestically then he shoudnt be in the squad. Im sure payangara is a very nice fellow and it is to zimbabwe crickets gain that he is playing domestically lending experience but I just dont get this obsession with him you have.

All of our current bowlers will probably be dropped, most players are. That is hardly what could be deemed prophetic. But we will return to them because the options are not superior.

Remember, this particular one is being touted in the same class as Streak! I don't remember a young Streak being dropped since he broke into the scene as a youngster! With so many young seamers firing in the Logan Cup, as has been the case since the Franchise FC System was introduced - if he is to return, it will be after a VERY long time! This is different, he'll be dropped proper, the kind that will rattle a few souls here! ;)

None of the firing young seamers are outperforming the test bowlers. They are not of a superior class. They will get chances and then will get dropped and then they will go on the merrygoround again. Even Matsi got another go this summer after what most thought would be "dropped proper"

Even this early in his career, could Kyke Jarvis be our 2nd best pace bowler in test history?

only has to leapfrog Eddo.
