my personal opinion is we need to lament more.

we dont have the cattle to be competitive at the moment, price is getting long in the tooth, theres no brendan taylors coming through the system atm.

we need a shortish term plan, and right now there are qualified people who can do this for us,
namely ballance and ervine, butterworth adds depth to the t20 squad.

we need to chase them, we dont have the luxury to say " kthanxbi' and move on. not yet.

throw the kitchen sink at them. if not now....then in 2 years when we are 12 months out from the world cup (i personally think these players wont budge until then, the benefits dont outweight the cons at present).

I tend to agree. Ballance is 'the BRMT coming through'. With so little cricket ahead of us though, there is really nothing to press them to join up for.

yep,
im trying to put myself in the shoes of ballance and ervine.

At the moment, the carrots not there.

little cricket- even if some of it is test cricket, little money, and a recent history of not paying.

It even occured to me the other day that perhaps Craig was the one to dissuade sean from joining the WC squad. Craig being on the ground, seeing it all go down, telling his brother not to give up a good gig.
Craigs silence about the whole drama fuels that theory.

However, in two years time its a different story. Cricket volume will have slightly picked up, we are still playing tests a world cup looms ahead -and NEVER doubt the incentive for a player to play the world cup- and chances are we will find sean saying to himself "im not going to play for england, im getting a little old, if i go back to zim, i have a long career still ahead of me, im with craig, i have 2x world cups in me and countless tests....i think this is a likely scenario given he was going to play for zim at the dawn of the previous world cup.

Ballance also may find himself capsless for england, possibly a few places down the call up queue. He may get disenfranchised with someone in ECB...it will take more effort but if ZC make the right moves he is very attainable. A key component is getting uncle Dave enthusiastic about this.... because i strongly suspect the fans have jumped the gun assuming Dave prefers Gary in zimbabwe at present.

What happens politically will likely have a major impact. If bad things go down in Zim in 2013... But if genuine progress occurs then it may look more attractive.

Further to my rant,

Sean Williams....

i mean wtf are ZC doing?

I get that its a 2 way mexican standoff on some old pay issues...

But lets cut to the chase up here in this b*tch....

Here we have one of the most talented batsman we've seen, the perfect fit for a failing middle order a leftie, useful in the field and decent with the ball... and where is he? Hes playing park hockey with his mates.

Hes not in demand in the county scene, he hasnt got a small family to consider...... he isnt on the verge of england selection... hes publically wished he could be playing cricket again with the boys, shown interest to return... he even still plays at club level...

I'm sorry.... but this should not be hard to get him back.

ZC are doing something very very wrong here. How can we get Ballance back, when we cant get Sean Williams?

Get the mint lollies, set up a meeting and talk this out. Something can be arranged.

The prospect of Ballance and Sean Wiliams In the Zimbabwe middle order would get most fans salivating I guess but the players need to be spoken to and forums need to be open that allow them to speak there minds on any issues they may have. I read somewhere that Ballance had not been formerly approached by any ZC Officials somewhere last year?

All they do need to do is offer Williams money and women and he will come back.

@ZIMDOGGY-100% correct at times as a player you need some love from either your manager or respective board for good example The Manchester United Striker, Rooney was ready to leave United but look at how Fergason dealt with it, just gave some love to Roo and right now he's still there and yes it wasnt in a days talk it took some time and talking but at the end of the day worth the talk that's what ZC should do not just open doors and let talent go like that.... Balance, Williams and Ervine not to talk of others, can still were the red-shirt ZC has got to just lose their pride and do their Job.
