I disagree, Stuart is in the team based on merit end of story. If Choppa wants in he needs to score the runs in First class cricket. And he certainly hasnt doen anything to be axed in the next outing if anyone is to go to make way for Tibba its going to be Waller or Ervine.sloandog wrote:Coventry in the side instead of stuart would have made the batting sheet look a lot more destructive, would you guys agree ?

100% agree with you there, bayhaus. There are a few people in that squad who are there more on reputation/potential/pretty face than hard results...Elton and Craig spring to mind here. Matsi put in the hard graft and got decent results over the last year.bayhaus wrote:I disagree, Stuart is in the team based on merit end of story. Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

Chigs needs to be dropped for Coventry. He hasn't been had anything to write home about in the last 24months.

Maybe Chigs needs to be dropped...but what has Coventry done over and above Chigs in the last 2 years?clikcspeed wrote:Chigs needs to be dropped for Coventry. He hasn't been had anything to write home about in the last 24months.

No, my point was that the sheet would look more destructive and powerful if Chopper was in. Matskinyeri did well domestically, I'm not contesting that, but having Coventry in the side at his expense would make the order look more stable in my opinion.bayhaus wrote:I disagree, Stuart is in the team based on merit end of story. From Babwe came a lad called Choppa
who hit a record 194 Show Stopper
then faded quite sadly
and scored so badly
that he became known as Flopper.

Re: charles choppa coventry
Matsi can stay in the T20 for now I guess as he put in a couple of useful knocks. Craig Ervine is the vastly superior player but unfortunately his form is in a real rough patch. Too bad he was dropped after he played a good test innings against Bangladesh. He lost his form completely.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
Re: charles choppa coventry
He needed some love after the 194. That opening slot at the ODI world cup killed him and the way he was tossed out didn't help much. I think he should be given a consistent T20 run at number 4 or 5, then let's see if he can graduate to longer formats. He deserves that much, the guy has been pipped only by Tendulkar to a world record.StevenZim wrote:Choppa never did much after his 194 not out. I do think he has the talent to persevere with though. You can't just fluke a score like that. He needs to actually play Domestic cricket this season.
Re: charles choppa coventry
There must be a story behind his exclusion ,but he must work hard on the pitch and silence his critics just as hamilton masakadza did he was left out of the world cup squard n continued working hard now he is now unstoppable .form is temporary n class is permanent

Re: charles choppa coventry
But Coventry does have the talent and the ability to come off and on his day, he can match Taylor for power and stroke making ability. He is well and truly, 100%, Zzimbabwe's wild card, but he should be used
