The highlight of the Zimbabwe batting was Vusi Sibanda who top scored with 145 retired.

Sibanda reached a brilliant century with a big six over square with Zimbabwe at one stage motoring on to 203 for one off 31 overs.

Hamilton Masakadza contributed 56 and Tino Mawoyo 30.

Zimdoggy is correct with his assessment. Sibanda looks good but fails to deliver. He comes out looking like a deer in the headlights, somehow overcomes his nerves to play one glorious stroke and then gets out and returns to the pavilion. There has to be something psychological going on with him.

It's great that our side posted a good total, however, our focus should be on the bowling.

Meth & Jarvis went ok up front, while the spinners(and even Chamu&Waller) did a decent job, slowing down things later. The was all against weaker batsmen, so more was expected against teenagers, batsmen with no List A/FC experience to speak of who are more worried about their studies.

Clearly, Mpofu & Chatara are the ones who bowled when Sarwan had played himself in, and that's what we should zero in on. It's worrying that he got on top of them rather easily, but the real concern is that he's the least in form WI batsman, and far from their best ODI batsman right now.

If our boys are going this badly against the current Sarwan, then tought times are ahead of them!

I suppose this is where you need the vicious Vitori deliveries, or Shingi's striking abilities, but neither made the trip. A neat five for in five overs was up for grabs!

At the end of the day, 270@5.5 against this lot, is downright poor! We did better against Kenya & Canada in the World Cup. Hope it's all down to jet lag, and the boys will have recovered by tomorrow.

Batsmen probably didn't cash-in after making starts. Also looks like the bowlers didn't do that well. I suppose everyone got a bowl though.

Chakabva has shown glimpses of that (scoring quickly in ODs and T20s at the back end of the innings) in the past and recently in domestic cricket here and there. If he can carry that onto the international stage it would be a major asset for Zim. I guess he's nailed down a spot for tomorrow's XI.

I can envisage a future where we have Regis, Mutumbami and Sauramba cueing up for the middle order. Maybe one of them should work on his bowling ...

We always seem to have a lot of players that can keep in the side. We would just be continuing the tradition.

These comments are not at all recent, and Vusi has thankfully proven his doubters (including me) wrong. My point, if you had read my comments was that Vusi is now a ZCF favourite with almost universal approval amongst forumites. My point wasn't that no one had ever said anything negative about him.

You said 2 years. Next time you should limit your statement to 'recent', which although not being specific, gives you some leeway.
