That is so very true, yet ...Jemisi wrote:If we were 4/305 trying to set a target for the fourth innings at the beginning of today, we would all have been cheering. We are on top, these two just need to settle the dressing room down with a decent stand.

So what sort of target do we need to set to bat Bangladesh out of the game? 450? 500?
We've only got 317 so far at tea on day 3.

4/317 at Tea on Day 3. We can be pleased. We need to bat out the day and put it beyond them. Let the seamers sleep on their good work.
Re: Match Thread - Zimbawe v Bangladesh 1st Test
400 is sufficient for a declaration
Re: Match Thread - Zimbawe v Bangladesh 1st Test
I think another 100 would be great, but we shouldn't declare at that point unless rain is coming. Make the BD bowlers do more work, make them chase more leather and get some confidence into Chigs. We could easily declare just before lunch tomorrow if we were travelling well with a target of 470.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:So what sort of target do we need to set to bat Bangladesh out of the game? 450? 500?

Fair point. We had to really grind to bat for 150 overs... the Bangladeshi's like to play their shots so you'd like to think they'd have a hard time batting for that long. So a declaration by lunch tomorrow (hopefully not an all out...) should be good.Jemisi wrote:I think another 100 would be great, but we shouldn't declare at that point unless rain is coming. Unless the guys are going to go hell for leather in this evening session so they can take the new ball tomorrow morning, make use of the famous first hour at HSC?
