I don't know how he looks like but "Rhodesian stalwart" sounds like ... David Lewis (???) who sadly passed away earlier this year.

I'm a tad confused here, Crimson. This guy looks familiar but I can't place him anywhere. He does not look like any of the great Rhodesian allrounders that spring to mind, yet you said it's a simple one :( .

But I'll have another stab in the dark here (maybe you'll give us another clue after that :) ). How about Edward Parker, 1455 FC runs @ 21, 100 wickets @ 29 ???

Well, you are missing a big name here :)

He was the first to achieve quite a few things for Rhodesia / Zim... (I think this was a decisive clue...)
