2013 ZCF XI
2013 ZCF XI
The New Year means another installment of my annual ZCF XI.
1. hhm/zcfoutkast: Is gone as quickly as he appears. A sacrificial lamb for the privileged whites hiding in the middle order.
2. ZIMDOGGY: Likes to get out quickly so he can go back to the pavilion and think about how awesome Gus Mackay is.
3. CrimsonAvenger: Spends too much time photographing players for his quiz and not enough time watching the ball.
4. foreignfield: The level headed member of the side who seems to have the answers to all of Crimsons questions.
5. eugene: hhm's arch-enemy, and one of the privileged whites hiding in the middle order.
6. bayhaus: Has lost the tinfoil hat, as most of the conspiracy theories have come true in the last year. Perhaps bayhaus is really running ZC?
7. brmtaylor.com: Hasn't been around as much this season, hence the demotion down the order. Still won't relinquish that captaincy however.
8. Jemisi: The reliable allrounder. No one ever remembers many of his contributions, but they all add up.
9. googly: The local informant, always has breaking news, but can never reveal any sources. Always seems rather glum.
10. Dr_Situ (ZimFanatic): Doubles as the team doctor and mascot.
11. sloandog: Has lost a yard of pace, but still enjoys bowling beamers to hhm in the nets.
Coach: maehara: Rules with an iron fist. Many a forumite have disappeared, more than once, ...hhm...

Re: 2013 ZCF XI
Nah, you deserve better, why not open the batting this season for Rhinos and sneak in replacing our resident out of form Vusi (hhm)? I would love to have a cushion when I come out to bat at 3. I'm virtually opening every match this way.
Compared to last year's squad, http://zimcricketforums.com/viewtopic.p ... 36&p=46995, looks like the top order is pretty stable - only change being foreignfield shooting up to become a batsman from a no. 10. This unusual top order stability inherently rules out the credibility of being a Zim team

Let us also bring in some conflicts of interest for good measure. Googly is also the bowling coach, eugene is also the convener of selectors (which explains the inexplicable dropping of zimfan1 from the XI) and hhm is also allegedly the patron of the cricket governing body of the country.

Re: 2013 ZCF XI
Welcome to our coverage of the only Test match between the 2013 ZCF XI and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe will have their tails up coming off a rare Test victory over Pakistan and have retained their full lineup.
Brendan Taylor has won the toss and has chosen to make use of the bowling friendly conditions at Harare Sports Club. Vitori has the new ball in hand, hhm prepares to open with ZIMDOGGY at the non-strikers.
0.1 Vitori to hhm, OUT, clean bowled him! Vitori strikes straight away! hmm won't be too pleased with that one, he trudges off muttering something about colonial injustices but that's not going to help his forward defensive. 2013 ZCF XI are one for nought.
hhm b Vitori 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
0.2 Vitori to CrimsonAvenger, no run, let through to the keeper.
0.3 Vitori to CrimsonAvenger, no run, leather hits wood for the first time today. Driven straight to the fielder at mid on.
0.4 Vitori to CrimsonAvenger, no run, pace! Pitched short and that sails through to Mutumbami at head height.
0.5 Vitori to CrimsonAvenger, no run, well defended.
0.6 Vitori to CrimsonAvenger, FOUR, Vitori questions the batsman with another short ball but he should know that CrimsonAvenger has all the answers. Hooked away, one bounce for four over square leg!
End of over 1 (4 runs) 2013 ZCF XI 4/1
ZIMDOGGY 0* (0b)
CrimsonAvenger 4* (5b, 1x4)
BV Vitori 1-0-4-1

Re: 2013 ZCF XI
Yes, the guy at no. 4 is batting way too high, even if he might be good at rotating the strike with our stalwart at first drop. Still think betterdays or aydee would provide more substance in the middle order. And yes, we can't let the opening talents of zimfan1 go to waste.CrimsonAvenger wrote:Compared to last year's squad, http://zimcricketforums.com/viewtopic.p ... 36&p=46995, looks like the top order is pretty stable - only change being foreignfield shooting up to become a batsman from a no. 10. Happy New Year everyone!
