The Eagles are nothing but team players. As a result, we respect the decision and childish insistence by the Tuskers to want blue. As a result, we are happy to change our kit colours to gold, if Crimson is feeling generous to come up with a kit idea that is?
We will be happy with the gold kit with a tinge of Navy.
Ah but the Tuskers have strong links with the colour Blue, infact there is a movement in Bulawayo for Matbeleland to break away from Zimbabwe and gain independence as there own nation using the below flag.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I am very close to finishing this semester of university. So will start working out how I will rate the players, and start putting it all into the simulator. Sorry for the wait.
It would be a good idea to put the squads on the first post, also all these wonderful kits. If you want you can change the first post over to me, (if possible) and I can do it.
I saw someone in another thread mention the phantom draft and thought it would be a good time to bump the thread. Based on the domestic (and international for the guys playing in BD) performances to date, which squad looks the strongest at the moment?

We could have a rookie draft so people could replace players that aren't featuring (Vermeulen, etc)?
Might be a chance to get guys like Burl into a squad.
Looking at the squads, I think Jemisi's Rhinos are edging it from us and the Tuskers, thanks to Williams, Vitori and Chakabva. Skipper Hammy leading the way for us with Kasuza, Mbofana and Muzarawetu. Mupariwa and Chigs starring for the Tuskers so far. Eagles being carried by Panyangara and to an extent Kamungozi for the time being. We are having some egg on out face too, thanks to Sauramba and Trenchard.
Our middle order is short of runs atm, but the tail should wag a bit. Sauramba has to sit out the next game, as far as this selector is concerned. Mamhiyo has shown some form in the Pro50 at least, and Trenchard shouldn't feel to comfortable either. Mushangwe needs to take some wickets, he's got Munyede breathing down his neck.
What does my fellow selector say to this XI?
H Masakadza (c)
K Kasuza
Trenchard
R Mutumbami (wk)
T Maruma
G Mamhiyo
M Mbofana
S Masakadza
N Mushangwe
T Chatara
T Muzarawetu
Btw, TP Maruma seems to have joined Mlambo amongst the discards: Mutare is ready for some Burl-mania
Given he can't bowl now, it was an inspired choice by the team managers not to take Utseya!
I think we've got two choices. Whatever the team managers want to do we'll do.
OPTION 1 - HAVE A ROOKIE DRAFT NOW
There's definitely some talent missing in the squads that are playing in the Logan Cup (Burl, Lamb, Jarvis, Wadlan, etc) which we could have a mini-draft to get into the existing squads.
Rules:
- We'll call the players in this draft rookies, because come the end of the season when we look at the squads and figure out whose is the strongest we'll only take performances by the rookies into account effective from the day the rookie draft ends.
- $2000 limit to select a maximum of 3 players
- Player values are halved from the main draft. So an international player is now worth $1,500; a county pro is worth $1,250 and a domestic player is worth $250.
- Squads are limited to 16 players. So if a team takes more than 1 rookie, then they'd have to de-list a player for each additional rookie to make more room.
- Any unused funds will be retained by the club for the end of season trade/draft period
Pros: squads can be topped up with quality players now, retired or otherwise out-of-action players can be discarded from squads
Cons: next seasons draft period might not be as interesting because there might not be a stand out number one pick for people to fight over and make aggressive trades for
OPTION 2 - DON'T HAVE A ROOKIE DRAFT
So the squads stay as-is until the end of the season.
Pros: more teams have a chance of getting Burl (due to aggressive trading of draft picks and/or players)
Cons: it's a long wait until there's more phantom action
I'm thinking either way, at the end of the season we'll have a trade period. So teams can exchange future draft picks or players from their existing squad to another team in exchange for their draft picks or existing players. For example, say Mountaineers had draft picks #1, #5, #9 etc and they were desperate to get W Masakadza off Matabeleland. And let's assume Meth makes a comeback later this season and would be very desirable for Matabeleland. Mountaineers could offer Matabeleland pick #5 for W Masakadza. Matabeleland could refuse and say we want pick #1 (because they want to be sure of getting Meth in the draft). Mountaineers could counter by offering #1, but asking for PJ Moor in addition to W Masakadza. And on it goes until agreement is reached (or not).
And then we'd have another draft period. Maybe the squads could be rebooted, but I think it would probably be better to increase the number of vetoes for each team so that each squad isn't rebuilt every draft (for example, if Mountaineers have a long term aim of getting the three Masakadza's on the same list they are able to do that by trading well rather than the luck of the draw of a brand new draft each year).
followed by another draft (probably with more vetoes though, so that nobody's squad gets destroyed)
