Often only an airfare, and a room in the chairman's house...

Well it depends on where and who you play for!

Most will get their airfare and put up by the club, either in a flat or with a club member. Then wages vary. Some guys shall get a standard wage with performance incentives and others shall just get a wage for their service.

I know clubs don't have the same amount of money as they used to but most pros shall make 5.5k (in GBP) at least, with some making significantly more than that for 4/5 months work.

So these small clubs can afford to pay players in excess of +1k a month!? Do the local players get paid a similar amount?
