Coventry is no slouch with the gloves, he didn't make a single error the other night plus he's more vocal than Mutumbami.Robbo wrote:It's already been mentioned, but why on earth was Coventry keeping over Mutumbami? No issue with Coventry being in the side, but surely Mutumbami is better with the gloves, and if he is not going to keep, then fit in another batter?

Yeah, that's a fair point. I just feel that if Mutumbami is not going keep, maybe we could fit in Chamu or Kaia. That gives you an extra bowling option as well, with Chamu at least.
Good to see Chigumbura leading from the front with his batting!

i would back Richmond any day if its any First Class or List A game. He is an accumulator of runs who can accelerate the scoring when he has his eye in. The problem is where he currently bats I in my honest opinion should bat where VUSI bats.I think he is the future of our middle order at 5 or 6 . I am also concerned where Raza is batting the guys is Top 3 and not this 7 8 position that he is comming in at . Let him throw his hands at the ball and i think 40% of the time we will get a great start

Cld having Elton bat at 4 benefit the team more considering his not bowling that much. maybe he could fill in on a more permanent basis.

Zimbabwe never play t20's and they pick the same guys for ODI's as well and they don't even have a domestic t20 competition so I'm going off ODI records ......
So tell me is Ervine useless in ODI matches mate??

So again I point out his average in ODI is over 33, better than all in the side apart from Williams .....
But he is useless

Gee, folks, not every diatribe against someone's pet player is a sign of racism, one way or the other. Hami has been called worse things than "useless" in this forum lots of times, to say nothing of Vusi.
I'm personally not a great C. Ervine fan, but he is definitely useful in a Zimbabwean context, especially in the upcoming ODIs where he will probably take Choppa's place (keeping the supposed quota intact). That said I think he should have played in the T20s ahead of Richie who hasn't the greatest pedigree as a T20 player either. It also hard to ignore his stats, even if I personally think they are a rather inflated because he's the most opportunistic/selfish batsman in the side imho ... that might actually be unfair on him, but that's been my impression time and again.
