Zimbos in the UK : Season 2015
Re: Zimbos in the UK : Season 2015
So we're not allowed to talk about Sam Curran cause he isn't playing for Zimbabwe ??
His father played for Zim and coached them, so he has links to Zim so as Zim fans we can be proud of his achievements !!!!

From my understanding, Welch is patriotic and wants, in his heart, to represent Zimbabwe. Its not that simple though. Alot of factors to consider.bavuma_rabada wrote:I thought England (or is it the ECB) had implemented certain laws. In a few years it looks like they will have had Ballance, Sam & Tom play for them, plus Welch if some here are to be believed. It leaves me with a burning questioning. What was their point in all of this, and which bright English citizens did they appease?maehara wrote:You know that without asking, surely. Members'll claim anyone who can
a) claim enough of a Zimbabwean heritage to meet qualification requirements; and
b) wield a bat / throw a ball.
(Personally, I've minimal interest in people who have given no indication of being interested in turning out for Zim, but hey, since when has beating a dead horse ever stopped a thread around here...)
I also believe one of the motivations for being in England was because no Zimbabwean Franchise side showed interest, and English elements did.
Googly is best to comment on that matter however.

So, the Curran brothers clean up Northants on their own, 7 for Tom, 3 for Sam...

Not for the first time. It's crazy to send Sam Curran with the u19 team. But I guess they want to expose him to SL conditions (tour) and BD conditions (u19CWC) for future purposes.CrimsonAvenger wrote:So, the Curran brothers clean up Northants on their own, 7 for Tom, 3 for Sam...

Re: Zimbos in the UK : Season 2015
It's amazing seeing the two Currans bowling in tandem. Sam is a great batsman, wait for some big innings' from him soon as well, plus he's an excellent captain. My predictions go further- he will captain England within the next 6 years or so. Feelings about Zimbos and ex Zimbos doing well overseas are split between a) f*^% them (they would like to throw in white pigs, but some black ones have also run away!). b) Oh what might have been, maybe we can lure them back with a 200 buck a month offer or even a free farm as land no longer has a value. c) good luck to them, at least we can claim they came from our 'hood and they've done well and it gives some hope.
The truth is we survive by ICC's good grace or we somehow fulfill some requirement or other to have a certain number of countries as members. I really don't know, but I do know we shouldn't be there. Virtually none of the franchise players live in the provinces they play for and they have to shortly commence the charade of trekking out to their provinces, every year no-one really knows when the season will start or if it will start. We all watch ZC occasionally shuffle the same old tsotsis around and everyone knows it won't make a difference. They turn a blind eye to the theft because WI and SL are no better. I really am not a doom and gloom merchant, I'm just being realistic. We live in a failed State (look that up, it's not good) and I'm fairly certain it can't be fixed. I know the next move will be people voicing an opinion that ZC should not "invest" (I use that term very loosely) any time or money on people who may leave. That will be aimed primarily at whites but may extend to blacks from private schools, we've seen this trend already.
There are delays collecting stats coz Hoop Dawg chooses to not put his real name and no-one seems to know what it is??
Fuck me give me a break.
I'm confident that these players voting with their feet want to not only play where the playing field is vaguely level but they may want to actually live there as well. It will take a few trips for them to break the shackles of home but it will happen. Every time people come back they see things are worse. We don't notice because we are the frogs in the pot and it's on slow boil.
Aside from SC, the two good batting youngsters to leave are EB and NW. Pundits have been waiting for EB to fire as he's promised much but has failed to really deliver until of late, and he's done it with a bang. I see him getting a County gig with Somerset possibly. I'd like to think a big County career beckons and I think he has it in him to be a good Test batsman. NW is yet to show what he can really do as he is not eligible. I've heard that he may be ready for next season. I do know he's not enjoying himself at all and is struggling to fit in. Certainly as a youngster you have to be emotionally ok in order to be able to perform at your optimum, actually that applies to anyone doesn't it? I hope he will settle down next year and get the exposure he deserves.
I view these boys as casualties of a system that has failed all of us, from the incompetent sports administrators down to the thieving traffic policemen/women that I despise so much. I wish them God Speed.

It's a waste to play him in the u19s. Rather create a series for the English Lions and play him there.jaybro wrote:Why so crazy ?

He'll never come back mate, Lancashire are a good club (It's where I'm from) who look after their players well. It's based in a great city with a great night life and lots to do. He's in his element
